    • A hydrogen/oxygen gas generating system includes a deionized water container and a cell for water electrolysis having anode and cathode compartments, the cell being submerged in deionized water in the container. Oxygen gas generated in the anode compartment is channeled to an oxygen gas separating chamber defined in the container at its top whereas hydrogen gas generated in the cathode compartment is channeled to a gas/liquid separator. The pressures of these gases are detected, and in accordance with the detected gas pressures, a first gas piping line for delivering oxygen gas outward from the oxygen gas separating chamber and a second gas piping line for delivering hydrogen gas outward from the separator are controlled such that the differential pressure between the gases may fall in a limited range. Water level in the oxygen gas separating chamber and water level in the gas/liquid separator are detected, and the detected levels are utilized to control the pressures and the supply of deionized water into the container. The system can generate hydrogen and oxygen gases of high purity under high pressure in a safe manner without a need for gas compressors.

    • A tape loading device is for a cassette type magnetic recording/reproducing apparatus in which a tape is drawn out of a cassette for record or reproduction, and includes movable tape guides for defining a path for running of the tape, a pair of reel driving motors which independently drive two reels of the cassette to apply a back tension to the tape, and a control unit. The reel driving motors are activated to apply the same torque to both the reels, before the tape loading operation. In this state, a tape wind diameter ratio and/or an inertia ratio between the reels is computed based on the speeds and directions of rotations of the reels. The control unit selects a control pattern which would effectively suppress rotations of the reels due to inertia, out of a plurality of control patterns, in accordance with the computed value. In tape loading or unloading operation, the control unit controls operation of the movable tape guides and/or the reel driving motors in accordance with the selected pattern. Thus, any undesirable effect of inertia of the cassette reels is avoided, so that tape is loaded or unloaded in a short time without suffering from damage.

    • An image pickup apparatus which is capable of full line reading, comprises a line delay device, a picture element delay device, a switching device, and an adding device. The line delay device delays an output of an image pickup element for one line. The picture element delay device delays the output delayed for one line for one picture element. The switching device selects the output either of the line delay device or of the picture element delay device and outputs the selected output. Furthermore, the switching device is adapted to supply the selected output for the adding device at every two lines in a cycle of four lines. The adding device adds the output of the switching device to the output of the image pickup element and outputs the added output.
