    • Each of a first and a second navigation satellite system (NSS) are adapted to operate according to a first and a second specification, respectively, and each includes a first and a second plurality of satellite vehicles (SV), respectively.     • Techniques for deriving eigenvectors based on steered reference and used for spatial processing. A steered reference is a pilot transmission on one eigenmode of a MIMO channel per symbol period using a steering vector for that eigenmode. The steered reference is used to estimate both a matrix Σ of singular values and a matrix U of left eigenvectors of a channel response matrix H. A matrix Ũ with orthogonalized columns may be derived based on the estimates of Σ and U, e.g., using QR factorization, minimum square error computation, or polar decomposition. The estimates of Σ and U (or the estimate of Σ and the matrix Ũ) may be used for matched filtering of data transmission received via a first link. The estimate of U or the matrix Ũ may also be used for spatial processing of data transmission on a second link (for reciprocal first and second links).

    • Signaling for each multicast/broadcast service is sent in group page messages in PCH slots assigned to the wireless devices and/or PCH slots designated for use for the service. Each group page message contains an identifier for a service. The designated PCH slots for different services may be overlapping to reduce the number of times the wireless devices need to wake up to receive page messages or staggered to reduce collision among the services. The wireless devices may be informed of a group page message being sent on the PCH for a given service by use of paging indicators that are assigned to the wireless devices and/or broadcast indicators that are assigned to the service. The paging indicators may be sent in QPCH slots assigned to the wireless devices and/or QPCH slots designated for use for the service. The BI bits are sent on the designated QPCH slots.

    • A system and method for automatically directing a communication antenna to point to a desired wireless communication transceiver, is presented herein. The system includes a position location receiver, which receives signals indicating the position location information of the antenna and a position location transmitter and a processing mechanism, which determines calibration information of the antenna. The calibration information is achieved by first establishing a reference vector between the location of the antenna and position location transmitter and establishing a vector reference space and then calculate the necessary elevation and azimuthal components, within the vector reference space, to identify the proper calibration of the antenna. Once the calibration information has been determined, an alignment mechanism automatically orients the antenna. The alignment mechanism then automatically directs the oriented antenna to point to the wireless transceiver, based on the directional location information of the wireless transceiver.
