    • A WTRU configured to receive a multicast, a unicast or mixed signal. A multimedia signal may be a Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Signal (MBMS). The WTRU switches between an MBMS and a mixed signal and determines optimal time to switch between the MBMS and mixed signal. The WTRU switches between receiving the MBMS and mixed signal in an adaptive or semi-static pattern. A flat broadcast channel (BCH) structure in an MBMS dedicated cell is provided, eliminating need for a dedicated broadcast channel (D-BCH). An MBMS-dedicated cell uses a single paging channel for both paging-indicators and paging-record-blocks. A system information broadcast indicates flexible resource usage and paging-record-block limits. Tracking area (TA)/cell association is provided for an MBMS-dedicated cell and geographically co-located non-MBMS-dedicated cells. MBMS-dedicated cell system information is broadcast to regulate WTRU operation while receiving MBMS within said cell. Generic Access Profile (GAP) definitions is part of system information.

    • A method determining image orientation includes determining if an image includes an orientation tag and if the tag indicates the image is rotated +90 or −90 degrees. When the image does not include the tag or the tag does not indicate the image is rotated, the method includes determining if a face is detected in the original image and displaying the original image when a face is detected. When a face is not detected, the method includes rotating the image +90 and −90 degrees and detecting a face in the rotated images. When a face is not detected, the method includes applying a classifier to determine the image's proper orientation. When a face is detected in one rotated image, the method includes displaying the rotated image. When a face is detected in both rotated images, the method includes applying the classifier to determine the image's proper orientation.

    • After receiving a digital image, check if the digital image contains a predetermined object. If the digital image contains the predetermined object, extract object features from the predetermined object, then compare the object features with common features of each of the predetermined identifications. If the object features match the common features of one of the predetermined identifications, store the digital image into a database dedicated to the predetermined identification. If the object features do not match the common features of any of the predetermined identifications, register the predetermined object with a new identification. If the new identification is the same as one of the predetermined identifications, store the digital image into a database dedicated to the predetermined identification. If the new identification is different from all of the predetermined identifications, store the digital image into a database dedicated to the new identification.
