    • A system for controlling a brake force of a vehicle. In one embodiment, the system includes an electronic control unit including a controller, a plurality of sensors in electronic communication with the controller. Each of the sensors transmits sensor data to the controller. A user interface and a driver recognition system are in electronic communication with the controller, and a computer readable memory stores instructions executed by the controller. The instructions cause the controller to evaluate a driver identification data received from the driver recognition system, a driver preference data received from the user interface, and the sensor data received from the sensors. The instructions further cause the controller to classify and select a driver or a driving pattern class, execute a control algorithm to determine a driver dependent brake force based on at least one of the selected driver or driving pattern class, the driver preference data, and the driver identification data, and to regulate the brake force of the vehicle based on the driver dependent brake force.

    • Systems and methods are provided for decoding signal vectors in multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems, where a receiver has received one or more signal vectors from the same transmitted vector. The receiver processes these received signal vectors one by one, and uses information from signal vectors that have already been processed to process the next signal vector. To process a current signal vector, the receiver concatenates the current signal vector with a previously processed signal vector. This concatenated signal vector is decoded using, for example, a maximum-likelihood (ML). To decode the concatenated signal vector, the ML decoder can use a concatenated channel matrix that includes a channel response matrix associated with the current signal vector and a processed version of previous channel response matrices.

    • Methods and apparatus provide low-complexity receivers for use in superposition coded multi-user systems. In a downlink scenario, a superposition coded signal that includes data unique to first and second users is compared with every permutation of the bit positions of the transmitted signal. The values of the received signal that are nearest to the transmitted signal are located to extract the data unique to the first user. In an uplink scenario, a superposition coded signal that includes data unique to the first and second users is compared with every permutation of the bit positions of transmitted signals corresponding to the first and the second users. The values of the received signal that are nearest to the transmitted signal corresponding to the first user are located to extract the data unique to the first user simultaneously with the extraction of the data unique to the second user.

The symbols of the received signal vectors are combined, forming a combined received signal vector that may be treated as a single received signal vector. The combined signal vector is then decoded using a maximum-likelihood decoder. In some embodiments, the combined received signal vector may be processed prior to decoding. Systems and methods are also provided for computing soft information from a combined signal vector based on a decoding metric. Computationally intensive calculations can be extracted from the critical path and implemented in preprocessors and/or postprocessors.

    • Systems and techniques relating to wireless communications are described. A described technique includes receiving a signal that represents concurrent wireless data communications, where the signal is based on superimposed signals modulated using different respective constellations; detecting a first signal from the received signal over a first combined constellation, the combined constellation being based on the respective constellations; modifying the received signal based on the first detected signal to remove a signal contribution associated with the first detected signal; and detecting a second signal from the modified received signal over a second constellation. The second constellation can be based on the respective constellations absent a constellation of the respective constellations that is associated with the first detected signal.
