      SOLUTION: The inkjet recording apparatus has suction holes for sucking a recording medium and a flat plate-shaped platen in which grooves are formed in such a manner that a plurality of the suction holes are included therein. The inkjet recording apparatus includes a platen cover to cover the platen. The frictional resistance between the platen cover and the recording medium is made different from the frictional resistance between the platen and the recording medium. The platen cover has holes smaller than openings of the grooves of the platen.
