    • Power spring configurations for a spring energized fastening device includes a compact double torsion power spring and two opposed compact single torsion springs. Simplified structures to hold the springs in a stable pre-loaded position are disclosed. Each coil has forward extending arms including an angled portion and forward vertically coincident portions. The double torsion spring has a self-locking crossing geometry to hold a pre-loaded rest position. The opposed two springs have a bridge and a mandrel to hold the rest position. A lever presses arms of the spring between a striker and the coil including a compact nesting condition. A tab of the striker extends forward to provide a release edge and a positioning torque bias upon the striker.

    • A tacker comprises a housing including a magazine for receiving fastening elements and comprising a fixed part and a part movable relative said fixed part along a first axis for guiding and biasing the strip of fastening elements. A striker plate is guided along a second axis perpendicular to said first axis and spring biased into a lower position. The striker plate is movable against the force of said spring to an upper position by means of a lever and is released therefrom at said upper position to move the striker plate downwardly. The striker plate and the foremost fastening element are guided in a gap between a front plate of the tacker and a front plate of the movable part of the magazine biased against said front plate. Gap adjustment means for adjusting the width of said gap between the two front plates along said first axis limit the movement of said movable part of the magazine in the forward direction.
