    • A load detector device for an elevator which detects the load of an elevator cage having rod-shaped anchoring members connected to ropes which suspend the cage. Each anchoring member having an associated elastic support member which elastically supports the anchoring member to an anchoring plate which is axially translatable. Activator members are provided, each surrounding an anchoring member and bearing at one end thereof on an annular seat fitted on the anchoring member, to extend axially translatably through the anchoring plate. Displacement of the ends of the activator members with respect to the anchoring plate is detected by a displacement detector thus facilitating determination of the cage load.

    • A power shovel for surface mining operations is equipped with a Suspended Load Measuring (SLM) system. The SLM system determines the net weight of the material in the shovel bucket by sensing the electrical parameters of the drive motors. A microprocessor inputs the drive motor electrical parameters and processes them according to the known geometry of the power shovel. To meet the requisite accuracy of .+-.2% for a load measuring system to be effective, the SLM system utilizes a dynamic model which accounts for both conservative and nonconservative dynamic effects prevalent in power shovel operation. Correction are included for the conservative effects of the rotational inertia of the drive motors and reduction gear train, the stretch of the cables, and the inertia of the bucket. Non-conservative losses due to friction, gear loss and motor inefficiency are also compensated for. During truck loading operations, the SLM system maintains a cumulative total of the net weight of material in the truck based on the individual weights of each shovel bucket load. The total weight in the truck is then displayed to the power shovel operator so that the truck can be accurately loaded to full capacity.

    • A device for checking the loading state for a lifting appliance such as a crane. The device includes a calculation member to determine the weight suspended from the crane hook, and a memory adapted to receive diagrams to store information established by the crane manufacturer. The diagrams provide the values of maximum admissible load depending on the values of at least one paramenter which defines the state of the crane. A central unit is provided which determines the maximum admissible load for each of the values, and then the central unit includes a comparator to compare the maximum admissible load with the value of the actual load of the lifting appliance. The central unit also includes a checking mechanism to determine whether the central unit is operating correctly.

    • The load cell is particularly useful for measuring tension in a crane cable and comprises a body having its opposite ends connected in the cable so that a tension force is applied thereto. A central circumferential portion of the body is recessed to leave a central axial column connecting the end portions. A ring coaxially surrounds the column and is rigidly connected at its inner opposite ends over 360* to the opposed opposite end portions of the body. A strain gauge is secured to the central integral column and connected to a read out device. The major portion of the axial load is carried by the ring and extraneous torsion, bending and side load components are absorbed in the ring so that a true measure of the axial force is determined by measuring the strain in the central column.
