摘要： A universal cassette type stand for a continuous rolling line which can be converted from a universal beam stand having two horizontal rolls and two vertical rolls into a stand having two horizontal rolls for rolling structural shapes. Each horizontal and vertical roll includes two hydraulic tightening jacks each associated with a different chock. Each jack is provided with a servo-valve, a position sensor, and a pressure probe. The supply of each jack is servo-controlled by a regulation loop where the measurement of the tightening is transformed into a position reference depending on the modulus of either the lower or upper part or sides of the stand. The regulation or control loop is such that one of several alternatives for rolling the beam to a desired mode can be accomplished. For instance, the loop can be set up to obtain (1) a constant web, constant flange thickness while maintaining symmetry of the web relative to the flange, or (2) the loop can be set up to obtain a ratio thickness of web relative to the flanges while still maintaining symmetry of the web relative to the flange.

The combination mill includes a pair of cartridge or cartridge-like loaded mill stands, the first of which has a movable mill housing and the second of which is adaptable to being moved out of the mill line. The cartridges contain a pair of horizontal and vertical rolls that are aligned and adjusted prior to insertion into the mill stands through the mill housing windows. A four station cartridge transfer means having alternative stations simultaneously alignable with both mill stand windows is provided for supporting, positioning, and transferring work roll cartridges to the mill stands for insertion therein. A pair of movable table rolls with side guards adjustable to the maximum width of the first mill stand are movable either along the mill line or out of said line.

摘要： A stretch roll forming apparatus (10) has multiple roll forming stations (12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 40, 22) arranged serially so that a sheet metal workpiece (24) can be advanced through the stations in sequence. Each station includes a pair of roller dies supported by an inboard support station (30, 40) and by an outboard support station (32, 42), in spaced apart relationship, so that the roller dies are each rotatable about a horizontal axis. The roller dies are configured to shape a sheet metal workpiece which is advanced between them. At least one of the roll forming work stations is a stretch roll forming work station (40). In this station, the roller dies (44, 46) each have a frusto-concial shape. The roller dies are positioned such that the taper of one extends from the inboard support to the outboard support while the taper of the other extends from the outboard support to the inboard support. When a sheet metal workpiece (24) is advanced between the roller dies (44, 46) of the stretch roll forming station (40), one longitudinal edge of the workpiece is stretched relative to the other longitudinal edge. This gives the workpiece a longitudinal curvature.
