摘要： A copying machine allowing high copying efficiency and reliability by feeding recording sheets from any of a plurality of recording sheet storage regions to an image transfer region at a constant timing. Recording sheets stored in a cassette are fed one by one to a conveyance path by a sheet feed roller. The recording sheets P retained in an intermediate tray are fed one by one to a conveyance path by a sheet feed roller. The timings at which the sheet feed rollers, which are first drive rollers, are driven are controlled in such a way that a register roller, which is a second drive roller, can be driven at a constant cycle time with respect to a plurality of recording sheets fed from the conveyance path. Even when the cassette and the tray are switched over, the register roller is driven always at a constant cycle time. Thus, the image forming operation can be executed by feeding recording sheets in synchronization with the image-reading timing.

摘要： A torque limiter adapted to be automatically reset after a long period of time. The inner ring (1) has a cylindrical surface (5). A polygonal engaging surface (9) is formed on the outer ring (2) by a leaf spring in the shape of a polygonal ring. A cage (11) having pockets is provided between the inner and outer rings (1, 2). Rollers (13) received in the pockets are adapted to engage the cylindrical surface (5) and the engaging surface (9) at the narrowest portions. The inner ring (1) has an eccentric surface (15) on which is supported a bearing (16) which holds the cage (11) in a diametrically offset position. An annular portion (20) of the cage (11) is brought into contact with an annular portion (19) of the outer ring (2). As the torque increases with the rollers (13) engaged, the leaf spring (8) is deformed and the rollers (13) pass through the engaging positions, so that the clutch is disengaged. The cage (11) is further rotated by the torque transmitted from the inner ring, kept in contact with the annular portion (19) of the outer ring. Creeping thus occurs and the cage and thus the rollers are moved slowly to the next engaging positions.

摘要： A copying machine with automatic document feeder has two document size detectors. On detects document size by means of sensors when the document is on a document carrying table before it is transported by a feeding apparatus to a copying position. The other detects at least the length of the document in the direction of its motion. If different sizes are detected by the two detectors, the size of copy paper and magnification to be used in the copying are determined on the basis of the document size detected by the latter detector. With a feeder of this invention, document size can be detected accurately and efficiently.
