摘要： PURPOSE:To manufacture a lead storage battery plate whose active material hardly falls off. CONSTITUTION:Lead oxide (lead powder), which is mainly composed of lead monoxide, and dilute sulfuric acid are kneaded so that the lead oxide and the dilute sulfuric acid react with each other, and thereafter 1N of NaOH solution is added and is further kneaded so as to form active material paste. The active material paste is applied to a grid body being a collector so as to form a plate to be hardened, and the plate to be hardened is left in 0.1 percentage by weight of CO2 atmosphere for six hours so as to aging dry. Thereby it is possible to deposit the lead monoxide enough so that the active material hardly falls off.

摘要： PURPOSE:To shorten curing time to a great extent by energizing and heating each pole plate grid in a curing process for each pole plate of a lead-acid battery in which lead powder whose degree of oxidation is equal to or more than 95%, is used as active raw material. CONSTITUTION:When each pole plate having sufficient performance through curing in a short time is manufactured, each pole plate grid is energized and heated in a curing process for each pole plate of a lead-acid battery in which lead powder whose degree of oxidation is equal to or more than 95%, is used as active raw material. Namely, positive electrode paste is formed by an usual method by using lead powder whose degree of oxidation is different, the paste thus formed is filled in each grid of the lead battery for a vehicle, it is then cured at a temperature of 50 deg.C and at 98% relative humidity for two hours thereafter, and each pole plate grid is energized so as to be heated during curing. And oxidizing the surface of each grid is accelerated with the temperature of each grid quickly increased. For example, 10A current is applied to 50 pole plates 1 which are stretched across a frame 2, so that the surface of each grid thereby comes roughly up to 40 to 60 deg.C in temperature. By this constitution, each pole plate 1 having necessary but sufficient performance can thereby be manufactured in a short curing time.

Particularly in case of the alloy of Pb-Sn, it is preferable to apply the one composed by adding 0.01-0.2% of tin to lead with high fineness more than 99.99%.

This prevents the boundary portion 3 from direct contact with an electrolyte of sulfuric acid, reduces the breakage of the lug portion due to corrosion, and prevents the progress of the strap corrosion.

摘要： PURPOSE:To prevent the penetration of sulfuric acid into a strap to prevent the corrosion thereof by covering the strap having the connecting part of different lead alloys with polytetrafluoroethylene(PTFE) which has high water repellency. CONSTITUTION:Prior to accommodating a plate group into a container, a strap of the plate group is immersed in the dispersion of PTFE, or sprayed with the dispersion, then heated at a temperature near the melting point of the PTFE with separator damage prevented to form a film of the PTFE. By this surface treatment, the connecting part between Pb-Ca alloy and Pb-Sb alloy, where is easily corroded, is protected. If the strap is exposed from an electrolyte level, the strap is protected from the corrosion caused by O2. The penetration of sulfuric acid into the connecting part of different lead alloys existing in the strap is prevented to prevent breakage thereof. By covering the whole strap with PTFE, the elusion of Sb from the Pb-Sb alloy in the strap can be prevented.

A D-type battery is provided by winding the positive electrode 1', the negative electrode 4' and a separator in a spiral-shape. Since a band-shaped collector is not used in the negative electrode 4', a collector is not exposed as a discharging action proceeds so that internal short-circuit is not caused by burrs of a negative electrode collector even in a battery system wherein the positive electrode 1' expands in discharging.
