    • PURPOSE:To realize a small-sized GPS receiver having excellent characteristics as a GPS receiver which is used for measuring positions at the time of navigating aircraft, marine vessels, automobiles by receiving radio waves from an artificial satellite by means of a plurality of antennas by commonly using a code generator without deteriorating the code tracking accuracy. CONSTITUTION:The code generator 31 of a demodulation circuit is commonly used among a plurality of receiving sections which receive the same satellite signal and, by approximately setting the phase of the generator 31, the measured results obtained when the phase is accurately set against each receiving section are presumed from the difference between the approximately set phase and the phase of the generator 31 to be set by each receiving section, characteristic of a correlator, and correlated results obtained with the correlator. When the presumed value is used as a measured result, the code generator 31 can be commonly used among the receiving sections without deteriorating the code tracking accuracy of the generator 31.

    • PURPOSE:To make it possible to save the electric power of a GPS receiver by dividing the entire sky, controlling the divided sections, controlling whether a satellite is observed or not, storing the direction which can be observed based on the receiving state of the satellite signal, and starting the receiving operation only when the satellite is located in that direction. CONSTITUTION:The entire sky is divided into 8 sections. The numbers are given to code sections (a) - (h). The sections of the sky are controlled in the divided manner. After a receiver has acknowledged that a vehicle is parked in a garage, the signal of the satellite which is supposed to be located in the directions of the sections (a) - (f) is no longer received. Then, the receiver judges that the direction is shielded and cannot be observed. Then, the receiver judges that the direction is shielded and cannot be observed. The result is stored. Even if the satellite newly rises up in that direction, tracking is not performed. The receiving state starts only when the satellite comes into the directions of the sections (g) and (h). Therefore the power consumption of the receiver is decreased to the standby state during the time when the satellite is not observed in the directions of the sections (g) and (h). Thus the power consumption of the receiver can be saved.

    • PURPOSE:To shorten the time from reception to position measuring calculation and to make continuous calculation possible by preliminarily preparing a satellite combination table of high measuring accuracy from received satellite radiowaves and searching for the combination used in the measurement of a position therefrom. CONSTITUTION:The track positions of all of satellites after 5min from the present points are calculated using the approximate track data of all of the satellites in the navigation message received from the satellites at a receiving control part 11 and eight satellites having the receiving possibility of a radiowave and 5 deg. or more in elevation and separated in azimuth from each other are extracted therefrom to prepare combinations of three and four satellites and the position determination accuracy within a horizontal plane is calculated with respect to all of the combinations to prepare a table in the order of higher measuring accuracy and, in order to further increase searching speed, a satellite selection table 18 wherein each of 8 bits is allowed to correspond to the channel corresponding to each of the satellites is prepared. This table 18 is renewed at every 5min. A position measuring calculation part 15 converts the channel of the satellite receiving a radiowave at the point of time of the measurement of a position to a bit pattern and this pattern is set as an arrangement address to determine the satellite combination of high measuring accuracy used in the measurement of a position from the table 18.

    • PURPOSE:To accurately predict the frequency of a Doppler shift by controlling and correcting an oscillation frequency by calculation through a control means. CONSTITUTION:Radio waves from four satellites are received by a nondirectional antenna 1, amplified 2, and frequency-converted by a mixer 4 with the output of a local oscillator 3, and the band is limited 5. The output signal is separated and demodulated by a demodulator 6 and outputted to a control part 7. The satellite signals are separated by outputted gold codes characteristics to the satellites from a pseudo noise generator 8 in parallel and finding correlations with those four signals. Further, the signal of a numerically controlled oscillator 9 which regenerates a carrier is supplied to the demodulation part 6 so as to demodulate data sent from the satellites by two- phase modulation. The generator 8 and oscillator 9 are supplied with a reference signal from a reference signal generator 10. The control part 7 finds the difference between the frequency of the Doppler shift calculated at the stage wherein at least one satellite signal is acquired and an actually set frequency and the calculated predicted value of the shift frequency is corrected to catch the satellite signal in a short time.

    • PURPOSE:To switch satellites while maintaining position measurement accuracy by forecasting the data transmission timing of the satellites according to four- satellite position measurement and inserting short intermittent reception into the four-satellite position measurement according to the timing. CONSTITUTION:A nondirectional antenna 2 receives plural satellite radio waves, an amplifier 3 amplifies them, and a mixer 5 mixes them with the output signal of a local oscillator 4 to perform frequency conversion. This frequency conversion output is band-limited by a filter 6 and amplified by an amplifier 7. Its output signal contains the signals of plural satellites and demodulation parts 8-1-8-3 demodulate the signals of three of the satellites individually. At least one of the demodulation parts demodulates the signal of the 4th satellite to perform position measurement by the four satellites, and forecasts the data transmission timing of a 5th satellite by using the position measurement result to receive the signal of the 5th satellite intermittently and also to receive track data on the 5th satellite synchronously, thereby switching the satellites.
