    • Disclosed is a throttle device for an internal-combustion engine, in which, on one side of the side wall of a throttle body, there are formed a space for mounting a reduction gear mechanism which transmits the power from a motor to a throttle valve shaft and a default opening setting mechanism for holding a throttle valve opening at a specific opening (default opening) when the ignition switch is in off position, and a gear cover mounting frame which edges the mounting space. The frame is formed lower than the mounting level of the reduction gear mechanism. A gear cover for covering the gear mounting space is attached on the frame. A stopper for defining the default opening and a stopper for defining the full-closed position of the throttle valve are juxtaposed so as to enable position adjustments in the same direction. These stoppers serve to stop a default lever and a throttle gear, thereby enabling downsizing, weight reduction, and rationalization of fabrication and adjustments of an electronically controlled throttle device.

    • An X-ray CT scanner for producing a CT image of a subject by scanning an X-ray fan beam radiated an X-ray source through the subject in a predetermined slice-thickness direction. The scanner comprises a main detector detecting the X-ray beam to produce an X-ray transmission data of a subject and to a plurality of slices in agreement with unequal segment pitches. The detector comprises a two-dimensional array consisting of a plurality of X-ray detecting elements receiving the X-ray beam and being disposed in the slice-thickness direction as a row line and a channel direction as a column line. The X-ray detection sensitivity distributions of all the segments formed by the detecting elements disposed in predetermined element pitches in the slice-thickness direction are adjusted to be uniform or approximately uniform by controlling various members, devices, or factors which are all controllable for X-ray detection sensitivity, thereby enabling the X-ray transmission data of unequal slice thicknesses to be adjusted in sensitivity slice by slice in the detector. The scanner further comprises a switch group selecting and combining the sensitivity-adjusted X-ray transmission data of the plurality of slices, the selected and combined X-ray transmission data being provided to selected ones of a data acquiring elements of a data acquisition system.

    • An X-ray computed tomography apparatus in which detection signals based on X-rays transmitted through an object to be examined are repeatedly integrated at predetermined intervals. The integral signal is sampled a plurality of times in an initial period of the interval, and the sampled signals are averaged. The integral signal is also sampled a plurality of times in a final period of the interval, and the sampled signals are averaged. Projection data are created by subtracting the initial average value from the final average value. Circuit noise can be reduced according to the increase in number of times of sampling with a detioration in X-rays available for processing since the integration time is substantially shortened. Circuit noise becomes conspicuous when the dose of transmitted X-rays is relatively small, and becomes latent when the dose of X-rays is relatively large. The number of sampling times is controlled by oversampling on the basis of scan conditions which allow estimation of the dose of transmitted X-rays in such a manner. When the dose of transmitted X-rays is relatively small, the circuit noise reducing effect can be improved at a cost of a reduction in the amount of X-rays available for processing. When the dose of transmitted X-rays is relatively large, the amount of X-rays available for processing can be improved.

    • An air meter for an internal combustion engine. The air intake passage of the internal combustion engine includes a main passage and an L-shaped auxiliary passage. The auxiliary passage includes a first flow passage, a second flow passage and a corner portion arrnaged at a corner thereof. The first flow passage communicates to the second flow passage through the corner portion. The first flow passage is disposed in parallel with the main passage and has a hot wire sensor arranged therein. The second flow passage is arranged perpendicularly to the main passage. The first flow passage has a circular radial cross section. The second flow passage is in the shape of a groove with a bottom, the groove having a square cross-section. The first flow passage is open to the corner portion at a level of the bottom of the second flow passage. The corner portion has a circular cross section equal in diameter to and concentric to the circular radial cross section of the first flow passage, the cross section of the corner portion being taken at a level of the bottom of the groove portion and perpendicular to the first flow passage.
