    • A method of Authentication Authorization and Accounting (AAA) in an interworking between first and second networks that do not belong in the same administrative domain, using certificate based transactions. In the method according to the invention, the second network sends a public key to the first network, and a certificate to a mobile device. The certificate includes information regarding the subscription level of the mobile device and is signed with a private key of the second network. Upon detection of the first network the mobile device transmits the certificate and the first network authenticates the certificate using the public and private keys of the second network, and authorizes access to the network in response. The first network then sends a session key encrypted with a public key of the mobile device. The mobile device decrypts the session key with a private key and access the first network using the session key. In this manner, interworking is implemented without requiring the deployment of a special interworking function to bridge between the two different types of networks.

    • The invention supports two types of handoffs. The first handoff is for an inter-AN cell selection where the source AN allows the AT to add a cell under the control of a different AN to its active set and then allows the AT to switch to the target AN. A bearer path is established between the source and target AN to transfer the packet data traffic using an exchange of messages to register the AT's movement from one BTS to another BTS. The A8/A10 connections remain anchored at the source AN and, hence, a bearer path is needed between the source and target AN to transfer the packet data traffic. The second handoff occurs when the source AN specifies a move of the AT to a new AN proactively. New connections are established at the target AN to support the AT, and the AT is subsequently moved to the target AN via the relevant air-interface messaging.

    • Disclosed is an improved approach for performing crosstalk and signal integrity analysis in which multiple variables are taken into account when analyzing the effects of on-chip crosstalk, such as for example coupled wire length, ratio of coupling capacitance, and aggressor and victim driver types. Rather than performing a full-chip simulation, the potential crosstalk effects can be pre-characterized by performing simulation/modeling over specific net portions by systematically changing the values of these multiple variables. A set of patterns characterized from the variables are formed from the modeling. During the analysis process, the IC design is checked of the presence of the patterns, from which is produced the expected delay impact for crosstalk in the design.
