    • In a multi-carrier wireless system, potential problems from reconfiguring mobile station resources to accommodate changes in component-carrier configuration are mitigated by inserting a guard period each time the configuration of component carriers changes, so that transceiver reconfiguration can be carried out without interfering with ongoing transmission. A base station is configured to transmit data to a mobile station according to a first configuration of two or more component carriers, to determine that a change of configuration to a second component-carrier configuration is required, and to signal the change of configuration to the mobile station, using the first configuration of component carriers. The base station then refrains from transmitting data to the mobile station during a pre-determined guard interval of at least one transmission-time interval subsequent to the signaling of the change of configuration. After the guard interval, data is transmitted to the mobile station according to the second component-carrier configuration.

    • The present invention relates to methods and arrangements in a multi-carrier system. It also assumes independent DRX (Discontinuous reception) functionality on respective component carriers and the possibility for one carrier, e.g. the anchor carrier to initiate a change of DRX state for another component carrier. The basic concept of the present invention is to introduce a new “dormant” state in the DRX logic, whereby the dormant state can be used for non-anchor carrier components. The dormant DRX state implies that a carrier of a UE having this state is not required to monitor system signaling. In embodiments of the present invention this new state is introduced for a particular component carrier (e.g. non-anchor component carrier) for a UE operating in a multi-carrier system, and how to perform the transitions to and from the dormant DRX state implicitly, e.g. based on configured timer(s) for the component carrier or explicit signaling in a different (e.g. anchor) component carriers.

    • A method in a user equipment for requesting that a base station schedule the user equipment for an uplink data transmission to the base station is provided. The user equipment comprises a buffer. Directly or indirectly responsive to receiving data into the buffer to be transmitted to the base station, the user equipment generates a scheduling request trigger. The scheduling request trigger is configured to trigger the sending of a scheduling request to the base station if the trigger is pending at the next scheduling request opportunity, and to remain pending until it is cancelled. The user equipment cancels the pending scheduling request trigger when the data is accounted for in a buffer status report, which reports the size of the buffer to the base station, or when the data is included directly in a scheduled uplink data transmission whichever occurs first.
