    • A method and system for remote binding of meta-content to a uniform resource indicator are provided. The method includes providing a script to a web browser application in response to the web browser, application accessing the uniform resource identifier of a content provider system and requesting an asset therefrom. The script is generated by a remote server system and is provided to the web browser application by routing the web browser application from the content provider system to the remote server system. The method also includes receiving a call from the web browser application at the remote server system via the script. The call includes the uniform resource identifier of the content provider system. Using the uniform resource identifier, the remote server system queries a data source to determine whether meta-content for the asset is available. Upon determining the meta-content is available for the asset, the method includes returning the meta-content to the web browser application for interpretation.

    • Techniques for context-sensitive language learning are disclosed. For example, a language learning system may include an interface for communicating with at least one user, at least one sensor for collecting at least one form of data regarding the context in which the system is being used, and a processing device capable of making at least one adjustment to the communication with the user based on analysis of at least a portion of the data collected by the at least one sensor. The data may include audio data, visual information, biometric data, location, or velocity and the sensors may include a microphone, a camera, a biometric sensor, a global positioning system (GPS) device, or a velocimeter. The system may also use this data, alone or in combination with schedule data obtained from an external source, to determine the attention level of the user and to make corresponding adjustments to the communication. The system may further be capable of tracking changes to the data collected by the sensor and/or the number and/or type of errors made by the user and making corresponding adjustments to the communication.

    • Methods and apparatus for portable and universal receipt of closed captioning services by a user are provided in accordance with the invention. The invention permits a user to receive closed captioning services wherever he or she may be viewing video content with an audio component in accordance with a video/audio content display system (e.g., television set, computer monitor, movie theater), regardless of whether the content display system provides closed captioning capabilities. Also, the invention permits a user to receive closed captioning services independent of the video/audio content display system that they are using to view the video content. In one illustrative aspect of the present invention, a portable and universal closed caption receiving device (closed caption receiver) is provided for: (i) receiving a signal, which includes closed captions, from a closed caption provider while the user watches a program on a video/audio content display system; (ii) extracting the closed captions; and (iii) providing the closed captions to a head mounted display for presentation to the user so that the user may view the program and, at the same time, view the closed captions in synchronization with the video content of the program.
