    • The invention relates to an electromagnetic piezoelectric acoustic sensor (EMPAS). The sensor comprises a piezoelectric sensor plate spaced apart from an induced dynamic electromagnetic field, such as from an electromagnetic coil through which AC current flows. The electromagnetic field induces vibration in the sensor plate by fluctuating the aligned dipole moments of the piezoelectric material. Changes on the surface of the sensor plate can be detected by variation in resonance frequency of the sensor plate. The invention represents an improvement over conventional sensor methodologies in that no metallization of the sensor surface is required, and no permanent magnet is needed. The sensor may be used to detect absorption of molecules or biomolecular interactions between probe and target molecules.

    • A server and method is provided to provide a specific service to network users. The server and method automatically provide user-to-server security using VLANs. The server manages VLAN based on the request from a user for creating/deleting/joining/leaving VLANs. The server allows user to control groupings and overcomes the VLAN limit with the filtering policies on the switching infrastructure. In the second aspect of invention, the server and method provide a specific address based on requests from users. The server dynamically handles the management and facilitation of the requests. The server offers users reassignment of IP addresses from a first set of characteristics to a second set of characteristics with minimal user intervention. This allows users the ability to run a broader range of protocols. In the third aspect of invention, the server and method is provided to provide a routable IP address to a remote computer. The server allows pools of routable addresses to be maintained on one or more remote servers. The server can solve the shortage of the routable IP addresses.

    • A magnetic resonance imaging system acquires a final image of a selected field of view with a selected spatial resolution. A magnetic resonance imaging scanner (10) encodes and receives magnetic resonance samples in phase encode and readout directions using a plurality of receive coils (14). The encoding and receiving undersamples in the readout direction. A reconstruction processor (30) reconstructs magnetic resonance samples acquired by each of the plurality of receive coils (14) into a corresponding plurality of intermediate reconstructed images. Each intermediate reconstructed image has aliasing and in some aspects degraded high spatial frequency characteristics due to the reduced sampling in the readout direction. A combining processor (40) combines the plurality of intermediate reconstructed images based on coil sensitivity factors (42) to produce the final reconstructed image with the selected field of view and the selected spatial resolution in the readout direction.
