    • Insulating connection for two pipeline portions (1, 3), having a flange (2), arranged at the end of one pipeline portion (1), and a coupling piece (4) which is arranged at the end of the other pipeline portion (3) and engages round the flange at a distance, in doing so forming a cross-sectionally essentially U-shaped annular space (5) which is filled with insulating material, and having a primary and a secondary seal (11, 12) which are arranged at a distance from one another in each case on opposite surfaces of the flange and coupling piece. In order to be able to test the seals (11, 12) for leaktightness, even under operating conditions, and provide them with an emergency seal if required, the coupling piece (4) is penetrated, at a point between the primary and secondary seals, by bores (22, 23), into which in each case one closable connection stub (24, 25) is inserted. An insulating ring (18) is arranged in the annular space (5), in the region of the opening locations of the bores (22, 23), and is provided, both on its flange side and on its coupling-piece side, with in each case at least one annular groove, said grooves being connected to one another by channels (21). The two annular grooves (19, 20) are accessible, both for testing leaktightness and for introducing a suitable sealing agent, through the two connection stubs (24 and 25).

    • A method and apparatus for detecting and preventing electrically induced fires in a gas tubing systems constructed of Corrugated Stainless Steel Tubing (CSST) and Gas Appliance Connectors (GAC). The system of the present invention may include one or more energy detection schemes to detect electrical energy surges on the gas line. When such a surge is detected, the control circuitry of the present invention causes an electric main gas valve de-energize into a closed position. In addition, the system of the present invention further includes a residual gas dispersal system that automatically vents the residual downstream gas pressure remaining in the gas tubing system after the closure of the main gas valve.
