    • A guide element for a guideway element in a wheel suspension of a vehicle has one of the elements arranged such that it is connected essentially rigidly to the body and the other element arranged such that it is connected essentially rigidly to the wheel and a plain bearing, which makes possible a displacing motion of the guide element on the guideway element, is formed between these elements. The guide element is guided in a rotatingly movable and/or pivotingly movable manner on the guideway element via a joint arrangement, within which the plain bearing ring is arranged, which is guided with its circular passage opening, adapted to the cross section of the guideway element, on the guideway element. This joint arrangement may be designed as a rubber bushing or as a ball and socket joint. A plurality of sliding rings may be arranged in a so-called ball layer hollow body one on top of another and at least with a section facing the guideway element essentially at right angles to the longitudinal axis of the guideway element in a slightly displaceable manner. A guideway extending in a curved shape can thus be embodied. The sliding ring may have an elastomer ring, to which a metal bushing is vulcanized on the outside and to which a plastic sliding ring, which is in contact by its inside with the guideway element, is vulcanized on the inside.

    • A structure for mounting a hydraulic damper to a vehicle body is provided. The damper has a first end and a second end. The vehicle includes a vehicle frame that has a first bracket connected to the first end and an axle that has a second bracket connected to the second end. The axle is arranged to be pivotal with respect to the frame. The damper changes its length based on a swinging action of the axle. The first bracket has a first support hole. The second bracket has a second support hole. The first end has a first through hole and the second end has a second through hole. The first end and the second end of the damper are rotatably connected with the first bracket and the second bracket, respectively, by a shaft extending through at least one of the support holes and the associated through hole in a rotatable manner about its axis. The shaft has an adjusting element for adjusting the length of the damper to an optimum value based on the rotation of the shaft, and rotation of the shaft is prohibited by a prohibiting mechanism to maintain the length of the damper in the optimum value.

    • An auxiliary axle suspension system of improved strength is provided. As it relates to a wheeled vehicle having two outer, longitudinally-extending frame members, the system is comprised of an axle extending perpendicularly to the longitudinal direction of the frame members, a leaf spring located substantially directly under each frame member and extending in the longitudinal direction thereof, the leaf springs being slidably connected at their ends by spring hanger members connected to their respective frame member and extending substantially vertically from beneath each frame member, means for connecting the axle to the springs at about the springs'' central portion, each spring being normally biased upwardly so that wheels attached to the axle are normally held above the road surface, at least one vertically flexible pneumatic chamber located between each leaf spring and its respective frame member, each pneumatic chamber being located in a spread configuration, means located substantially directly under the frame member when the system is installed for taking up the horizontal force components of braking and dynamic operating forces, and means connecting the pneumatic chambers to the frame members and the springs, which means also offset the chambers from the vertical plane of the axle, such that when pneumatic pressure is applied to the chamber it elongates, forcing the axle downwardly against the upward bias of the spring to engage the wheels with the road surface.
