摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a combustion chamber structure of a diesel engine which simultaneously reduces the generation of NOx and smoke through realization of rich and lean burn without using a high-cost additional device, such as a CCD(Combustion Chamber for Disturbance system). SOLUTION: A combustion chamber 3 is formed in a recessed state in a piston top surface 2, and a collision member 5 is provided to collide and diffuse fuel F injected through a fuel injection nozzle 4 in the combustion chamber 3. An air chamber 11 to contain air is arranged in the internal part of a piston 1 below a combustion chamber 3, and a communication passage 13 to intercommunicate the air chamber 11 and the combustion chamber 3 is provided. Since the air chamber 11 not only stores air for lean combustion at a later stage but also is functioned as a dead volume to reduce the combustion chamber 3, a need for an annular groove formed as a dead volume in a conventional piston top surface 2 is eliminated, and swirls S are all confined to the combustion chamber 3. Thus, during rich combustion at an initial stage, the generation of a smoke component is suppressed, and a lightly generating smoke component is re-burnt by an air flow Y from an air chamber 11 to be combustion chamber 3 during lean combustion at a later stage.

That is, the pressure receiving face 12a has the same function as a valve spring, so that the timing valve 12 can be positively energized in the opening direction without increasing the energizing force of the valve spring, and high pressure air can be positively accumulated in a cooling chamber (auxiliary chamber).

摘要： PURPOSE:To suppress generation of NOx by injecting gas having pressure higher than cylinder inner pressure from an auxiliary chamber in the last period of combustion, and also providing an air reservoir for reserving a part of compressed air, so that the capacity of a combustion chamber is reduced by the volume of the reservoir and initial combustion is carried out with fuel over-concentration when a piston reaches to the vicinity of the comprossion upper dead point. CONSTITUTION:A combustion chamber 4 is formed by recessing the top surface of a piston 3, an air reservoir 5 formed by sinking the top surface of the piston 3 in an annular shape is provided so as to enclose the combustion chamber 4, and a main fuel injection nozzle 6 having 10 injection holes is installed in a cylinder head 2. Since the capacity of the combustion chamber 5 is about 2/3 comparing with a prior combustion chamber in which there is not the air reservoir 5 and an air amount is small, initial combustion is ignited in mixture air having over concentration so as to suppress generation of NOx. Non combustible gas and smoke are burnt nearly completely, since combustion gas flows out between the piston 3 and the cylinder head 2 in a combustion last period when the piston 3 falls down, air in the air reservoir 5 is led in, and combustion is carried out while mixing air with combustion gas.
