    • An endless dough conveyor 16 is provided with a resin endless toothed belt 18 instead of a metal chain. A toothed pulley 22 around which the endless toothed belt is wound is also made of resin. A rail 64 is disposed adjacent to a horizontal path of the belt, and a roller 46 attached to the belt is adapted to roll on the rail. At least two induction motors are provided for driving the endless toothed belt. The induction motors are supplied with electric power from a single inverter 35. At least a pulley is provided with a detecting unit 80. The detecting unit 80 detects a state in which teeth of the endless toothed belt climb onto that of the pulley, thereby predicting breakage of the belt. Thus, it is possible to prevent contamination of dough in a proofer.

    • A spindle conveyor system having a continuous conveyor chain, including a plurality of chain plates that are connected by chain pins, movably mounted in an enclosure structure. The conveyor chain is provided with guide rollers. A plurality of carrier blocks are each fixedly secured to the top side of an individual chain plate. A workpiece spindle is rotatably mounted on each of the carrier blocks and adapted to carry a workpiece holder fixture on the upper end thereof. Each of the carrier blocks has guide rollers operatively mounted thereon. Guide plates are mounted in the enclosure structure for guiding engagement with the conveyor chain guide rollers and the carrier block guide rollers.

    • A package elevator for a ship includes a plurality of slotted or tined trays carried by pairs of forked followers pivotally attached to a pair of chains driven in unison in parallel endless paths with upper driving sprockets and lower idler sprockets. Each follower is keyed to a shaft journaled in a link of one of the chains, and has an inner follower arm and an outer follower arm. The arms carry follower rollers projecting into cam tracks which guide the rollers so that the trays are in return positions lying along the chains in a return course, project outwardly from the chains in an elevating course and are moved from one of these positions to the other as the trays are moved around the sprockets. The cam tracks include cam blocks having cam grooves therein which turn the follower arms and trays only 90.degree. relative to the chains as the trays are traveling around the sprockets. Slotted or tined transfer trays may be swung from retracted positions to sloping unloading positions in the paths of the carrying trays and also are movable to horizontal loading positions.

The endless belt is driven in a guided loop through load bearing and return runs interconnected by turn-arounds at the ends of the loop. Guide rollers and guide tracks cooperate to guide the endless belt, with the guide tracks associated with the load bearing and return runs being connected in the turn-arounds via dynamic transition apparatus including cooperative guide track structure which enables normal manufacturing and assembly tolerances to be observed while automatically compensating for wear. The apparatus constantly seeks the best adjustment mode, providing smooth operation with minimal noise and vibration.

    • An endless vertical chain conveyor system of the type having tray carriers with guide wheels running in vertical tracks (e.g. U.S. Pat. No. 3,363,742) has a gear pocket carrier guide at the top and bottom curved sections of the conveyor. The chain sprocket at the top and at the bottom of the vertical conveyor has a planetary gear system which meshes with the carrier gear to maintain each carrier level. Guide wheels which support the cantilever load on each carrier operate in vertical tracks during vertical movement. The cantilever load is supported by a pocket guide for the carrier gear during movement around the top and bottom sprockets.
