    • The invention refers to a device, the purpose of which is to prevent theft from stores by rendering the stolen object unusable for the thief. The inventor solves the problem by way of a radio loop (11) transmitting a directed and coded signal (10) which in turn is received by a receiver (9) in the device (14). The receiver (9) decodes the signal (10) and transforms it to a start impulse (15) for the release mechanism (7) in the device (14). Hereby the glass/plastic ampoule (6) is destroyed and its content, a fluid, spreads under pressure through the holes (16) in the device (14) and renders the theft-protected item (3) unusable.

    • A locking device of the type, which preferably is intended for releasable attaching a plastic wafer to goods providing security against the theft thereof, comprises a locking mechanism mounted in a house (3), which is intended to be attached to the wafer, and a pin (2), which is intended to cooperate with the locking mechanism. To produce such a locking device, which prevents damage of the article, through which the pin passes, and which gives sufficient resistance against removal of the pin, and which is simple to make with better security against non-authorized release, the locking device is characterized in that the locking mechanism comprises two locking plates (6a, 6b) each having a long side (11a, 11b) adjacent each other, each adjacent long side is provided with a centrally placed recess (12a, 12b) for engagement with the shaft (8) of the pin (2). Furthermore, an inner house part (5) provides inclined planes (16a, 16b) directed symmetrical against the centre line of the house, separation means in the form of flaps (17) provided at the centre line of the house and shaped to separate the locking plates (6a, 6b), when these abut against the inclined planes (16a, 16b) in their position for release of the pin (2). Moreover, the locking mechanism comprises spring means (7) biasing the locking plates (6a, 6b) against their position for locking the pin. A preferred embodiment for the locking device comprises a resilient airtight membrane (20), which is placed immediate above the locking plates (6a, 6b). Hereby, a non-authorized release of the pin will be particularly difficult.

    • A security system including a security tag is provided. The security tag includes a housing and a pin in which the pin is removably insertable into the housing. The security tag further includes a latching element disposed within the housing and positionable in a lock position and in an unlock position. The latching element includes a pivot axis. The latching element has a substantially balanced rotational response about the pivot axis when exposed to an external physical mechanical impulse. The security tag further includes a bias element that releasably positions the latching element in the lock position. The latching element releasably engages the inserted pin when in the lock position.

    • A theft-deterrent device (10) for application to an article to be protected includes first (20) and second (30) components adapted for locking engagement to secure the article therebetween, with a fragile vile (60) disposed within the first component containing a detrimental substance which would damage the article in the event the vial is fractured. A pin (15) protruding from the first component has a first end secured to the vial using a suitable attachment structure. The attachment structure provides an aperture which surrounds a portion of the "vial in a closely engaged arrangement, and also serves to rupture the vial and release the detrimental substance if unauthorized removal is attempted. The pin and the attachment structure can be integrally formed, or alternatively the attachment structure can be formed as a separate piece and attached to the pin.
