摘要： A method for manufacturing a rigid, perforated cloth wherein the cloth is woven, in both the warp and weft directions of core yarns wrapped with a thermoplastic covering yarn. After weaving, the cloth is subjected to heating at a temperature greater than the melting point of the thermoplastic covering yarn. The cloth is thereafter cooled, thereby imparting rigidity to the perforated cloth.The product of the present invention is a rigid, perforated cloth in which the individual yarns of the cloth comprise a core yarn that is covered with a thermoplastic cover. The rigid, perforated cloth displays reinforced structural networks due to the plasticity of the thermoplastic material and enhanced resistance to physical and chemical degradation.

摘要： The product of the present invention is a fabric woven from oriented polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) strands, in which the strands of the weave are interconnected by a multiplicity of fine PTFE fibrils. To produce this fabric, consisting entirely of PTFE, a woven PTFE fabric is heated substantially unrestrained to a temperature above the crystalline melt point of PTFE and stretched. Alternatively, a woven PTFE fabric may be impregnated with other fluorocarbon polymers, heated substantially unrestrained to a temperature above the crystalline melt point of PTFE, and subsequently stretched, thereby generating a multiplicity of fine fibrils interconnecting the weave.

摘要： An upright frame is provided, through which a substantially horizontally flowing stream of gas containing liquid particles can flow. Mounted on edge in the frame are three porous transverse sections disposed face-to-face. The upstream section contains at least one transverse sheet of fine wire mesh disposed face-to-face, the middle section is formed of material for agglomerating fine liquid particles into larger particles and the downstream section contains a plurality of transverse sheets of fine wire mesh disposed face-to-face. Large liquid particles are removed by the first section, and agglomerated particles that do not drain out of the middle are stopped by the downstream section. The liquid draining down the three sections escapes from drain holes in the bottom of the frame.

摘要： An electrostatic filter having an improved dielectric is described. The dielectric constitutes a dielectric mat formed from a high porosity non-woven fibers having pores that have a void faction of at least 97%. The dielectric mat is sandwiched by a pair of porous electrodes. The fibers that form the mat have a maximum cross sectional thickness that is less than 100 microns and a length to maximum thickness ratio of greater than 10. The pores are preferably statistically substantially equally sized and open in three dimensions. In various preferred embodiments, the void fraction of the dielectric mat is greater than 99 percent. The mat preferably has a tortuosity of at least 2. The maximal cross sectional width of the fibers is preferably in the range 0.1 to 50 microns. In many implementations, the fibers that form the dielectric mat are formed from either polyester or polypropylene. In some implementations, the cross section of the fibers will have at least one (and preferably two or more) distinct regions of small transversal radius of curvature along its perimeter.
