    • A fuel injection device of a diesel engine capable of smoothly starting the diesel engine to match an environment around the engine by saving a fuel, reducing the exhaustion of carbon dioxide, and suppressing black smoke in starting the diesel engine. A rack (45) is operated by an actuator (41) from a lowest rack position to a starting increased fuel amount position at a lower speed than that at which the rack is operated by the actuator from the lowest rack position to the starting increased fuel amount position at the maximum operating speed. The operating speed of the rack (45) is set in two stages, and the later operating speed of the rack is reduced less than the operating speed of the rack up to a set intermediate rack target value P2. Then, the operating amount of the rack (45) per hour is reduced after the ignition of the engine (1) is recognized. Also, the operating speed of the rack (45) is controlled according to an atmospheric temperature in starting the engine.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent generation of bubbles in a pump chamber by a method wherein fuel is prevented from being choked extremely in a communication between a feed hole and a reed in case the amount of the fuel in the unit injector is regulated. CONSTITUTION:A control slider 38 is provided with the feed hole 39, communicating a fuel chamber 40 therefor to the reed 35 of a plunger 33 when the plunger 33 is located at a predetermined position during sliding reciprocally, further, with a spill hole 43, communicating the reed 35 to the fuel chamber 40 at the opposite side of the feed hole 39. When pressure oil from a control oil pump is sent into a hydraulic pressure chamber 41, the pressure of the hydraulic pressure chamber 41 slides the control slider 38 downwardly under rotating it, a relative position between the feed hole 39 and the reed 35 is changed and the amount of fuel in the pump chamber 33 may be regulated.
