    • The invention relates to a device (1) for binding together at least one object (2), e.g. a cable bunch, with the aid of a binding means (4), e.g. "twist tie". It comprises a rack (34), a feed apparatus (5) and two articulated arms (8, 9) for guiding the binding means (4) around the object (2). The articulated arms (8, 9) can be opened from their working position in which they are swiveled against one another. Furthermore, a cutting apparatus (18) for cutting the rear end of the binding means (4) and a twisting apparatus (17) for twisting the two ends of the binding means (4) are provided. The twisting apparatus(17) is provided with a rotary head (20) and therein with an opening for the binding means (4). The rotary head (20) of the twisting apparatus (17) has, on its end face (21), two openings, i.e. an axial feed opening (24) and an axial removal opening (25) for the binding means (4). However, the feed and removal openings (24, 25) are designed so that they themselves can securely hold the two ends of the binding means (4) -and the binding means loop formed from the binding means (4) -during the twisting exclusively by friction, i.e. without additional fastening means.

    • The invention concerns a method and device for twisting binding wire, the device comprising a longitudinally moving twisting head fitted to a machine for winding the wire round a bundle. The aim of the invention is to ensure, even with frequent changes in bundle shape, a consistently short and tightly twisted length of wire without the need to reset the operating parameters of the machine. This is achieved by virtue of the fact that, irrespective of the shape of the bundle (1), the twisting head (13) is brought up to the bundle (1) into a predetermined starting position and moved away from the bundle in the longitudinal direction, executing a predetermined number of rotations in order to twist the crossed ends of the wire (2). The leading end of the wire (2) is then released and the trailing end cut off the continuously running wire (2), the free ends being further twisted and the twisting head (13) subsequently being moved back in the opposite direction, i.e. towards the bundle, into its starting position. The untwisted extremities of the ends of the wire (2) are then pushed by a pressing element in towards the bundle (1) and up against the side of the twisted section of wire.

    • A method and an apparatus for automatically binding together rod-shaped articles such as reinforcing bars or tubular-shaped and other various articles with a wire-shaped binding material in an easy and portable manner. The apparatus comprises binding material feeding means (6), binding material bending means (8), encircling guide means (9), binding material cutting means (7) and twisting means (11). A portion of a continuous wire-shaped binding material (w) fed from the binding material feeding means is engaged with the binding material bending means to produce a starting point for bending into a U-shape. In this state, the binding material is fed from one side whereby it is guided around articles being bound together by the encircling guide means (9) while being bent into a substantially U-shape. The binding material is cut into a predetermined length and both ends of the cut binding material is twisted by a hook (25) of twisting means (11). The binding material is automatically bent into two lines so as to bind the articles in a roll, so that the binding material is increased in strength to bind strongly the articles with an extraordinarily strong binding force. Furthermore, as twisting progresses from a hook side toward the articles being bound together, it can progress until looseness of a bound portion of the articles being bound together is eliminated whereby tight binding will result.
