    • A process and a numerically controlled milling machine are disclosed for manufacturing casting models, in particular models made of polystyrene foam for full mould casting. The numerically controlled milling machine has a milling cutter (1) that may be moved by moving means (2) in all three directions in space. At least one coolant fluid channel (54) may be defined in the resilient material (22) in fluid communication with a coolant port (56) defined through the face (50) of the collet (10) for introducing cooling fluid onto the working surfacesof a tool held by the collet (10).

    • A boring tool (8) is interchangeable on the spindle of a boring unit. The tool (8) is carried by a tool holder (6) which is orientable about an axis offset transversally with respect to the axis of the spindle. The tool holder (6) is connected to a support-ing arm (10), which bears on a wedge shaped surface (12) slightly inclined of an adjustable device (13), axially movable in the spindle (1) by means of a rod (15). By axially displacing the rod (15), the boring tool (8) is radially adjustable. The tool (8) is extensible in the tool carrier (6) by means of balls (19) tensioning the jaws (18, 19, 20); the balls (19) are contained in an axially displaceable cage (18). At the end of the axial motion of the rod (15), the latter moves the resilient cage (18), held in its tensioning position, and releases the jaws of the boring tool (8).
