    • A die actuator for moving an operating lever of a threading die on automatic screw machines, and the like, having a turrethead indexable through a plurality of different work positions and slidable along a work axis toward and away from the workpiece. The die actuator comprises a base which is fixedly secured to the bed of the automatic screw machine and defines vertical guide means. An actuator slide is mounted for vertical sliding movement on the base in said guide means between an elevated, upper position and lower, rest position. Lift means extends outwardly of the slide into the path of travel of the operating lever on the threading die as the die moves during indexing of the turret. ENgagement between the lift means and the die operating lever during turret indexing causes the lever to close the die and move the thread chasers into position ready for cutting threads on a workpiece. When the head is subsequently moved forward toward the workpiece, the operating lever moves out from under said lift means and the actuator slide drops downwardly to the rest position out of the way of the turrethead and any of the other tools mounted thereon.

    • A series of individual single tooth thread cutting tools are rotated concurrently about the axis of a pipe and are applied in cutting relation thereto in succession, at the same starting point, by movement radially of the pipe in a time delay relation to each other. They are maintained in cutting relation concurrently until they advance near to the end of the portion to be threaded. They are then retracted from the pipe in succession in the same order in which they were engaged with the pipe, in the same time delay relation to each other, all at the same location endwise of the pipe and substantially the same location circumferentially of the pipe.

    • An insert chaser die head having a main frame member to which is attached a control plate having at least one guiding groove on its front face and rotating plate means positioned adjacent said control plate. The rotating plate means has at least one bore therein for supporting an actuating pin member whose end travels in the guiding groove and is biased by a spring located in the groove. At least two more bores are formed in the rotating plate for supporting at least two driven pin members, so that a portion of the ends of the pin members protrude from the rotating plate means. A stationary body member mounted adjacent the rotating plate means has at least two channels for slidably supporting at least two carrier members which, in turn, support individual chasers for cutting threads on workpieces. Individual guideways communicating with each channel are formed in the body member to permit the ends of the driven pin members to pass therethrough and engage cam grooves in the carrier members such that, upon rotation of the rotating plate means, the carrier members are moved toward or away from each other.
