    • A system for reducing oxygen in a target room, particularly for the purpose of controlling or preventing fire, wherein the system comprises an enclosed buffer space which is fluidly connectable or connected to the target room for the as-needed introduction of at least a portion of the room air of the buffer space into the target room. The system moreover comprises an oxygen-reducing mechanism allocated to the buffer space for setting and maintaining a reduced oxygen content in the spatial atmosphere of the buffer space compared to the normal earth atmosphere such that the oxygen content in the spatial atmosphere of the buffer space is lower than the oxygen content in the spatial atmosphere of the target room. The system moreover comprises a mechanism for introducing room air from the buffer space into the target room as needed.

    • Typically, for automatically dosing shutoff valves, a valve closing body is held in the open position by fixation with soft solder and can be moved into the closed position by means of a spring action. The disadvantage is that it can only be used on small valves and is restricted to the direct influence of temperature on the shut-off valve itself. Hence, the invention provides improvement using a reaction line and a hollow body to form a closed system. The reaction line which is thermo-sensitive all over its length can be laid at any desired distance from the shut-off device so that a fire occurring at a distance from the shut-off device triggers the closing action. The reaction line can, for example, be arranged in a metering and regulating station so that it stretches over the entire station. The advantage of the design as a reaction line is that the reaction time with regard to fire fighting is reduced to a minimum.

    • An automatic fire extinguishing system for ranges having top burners, including a hood, mountable over the range, tanks containing fire extinguishing fluids remotely located from the hood, solenoid operated valves connected in circuit with heat sensors and power lines to discharge fluid from the tanks when the heat sensors are operated. The range may have electric or gas burners. An automatically operated exhaust fan and audible alarms are also provided. The system includes manually operable set and reset switch means.
