    • This oral cleansing device assembly is an oral hygiene tool, which is powered by compressed air pressure. My invention uses no electricity, no battery; brush-driving power is derived from a small air motor with a rechargeable small compressed air tank integrated into the handle. This invention provides lifetime functionality to a power driven dental brush since compressed air is replaceable, reusable resource. Air compressor cradle is used to recharge the small tank. The same system can be used to replace rechargeable or alkaline batteries (with limited life cycle) to power electric tooth brushes, electric razor, toy cars and many small tools cordless drills, sanders where short duration cordless use is desired. Over the life time of the product by not replacing batteries, this system is more economical, also cost of design can be reduced.

    • A dental hygiene system provided with interchangeable dental heads permits power-enhanced brushing and concurrent fluid irrigation to optimize a user's personal dental hygiene efforts. The system has a handle assembly with an irrigation nozzle in close proximity to displaceable bristles driven by a battery-operated handle motor. Pumping of irrigation fluid such as an antiseptic solution into the oral cavity is also motor driven. A telescoping chamber with irrigation fluid fits on the piston-like base end of the handle and is refilled by docking the handle assembly on a complementary docking station that includes a detachable fluid reservoir, microswitch controls and a base fluid pump. Docking of the handle assembly triggers the microswitches and opens a check valve in the bottom of the handle chamber, which activates the flow of fluid from the reservoir into the chamber. An optional fiberoptic subassembly illuminates the oral cavity.

    • A toothbrush system is provided which includes a handle member (14) which defines an internal handle chamber (22) for containment therein of a cleansing liquid container (28). The handle member (14) is coupled to a head housing (24) which has bristles (20) extending from it. The bristles (20) are displaceably oscillated about a central axis (16) and simultaneously are rotated about an axis which extends in a perpendicular direction to the longitudinal direction (18) and is responsive to the oscillating displacement of the bristles (20). A mechanism is provided for delivering a liquid from the handle (14) through the head member (12) and external the toothbrush system adjacent the bristles (20). In this manner, there is provided pulsating liquid flow from the toothbrush system with a combined rotation and oscillation of the toothbrush bristles (20) in a plurality of planes.

    • A dental appliance including a curved tubular extension consists of a housing formed with first and second elongated recesses, and first and second pumps secured to the housing for pumping a paste and a fluid directly through the first and second recesses, respectively. A flexible drive shaft is rotatably disposed within the curved tubular extension and one end of the drive shaft is operatively connected to an electric motor within the housing. The housing and the tubular extension formed thereon are divided into first and second portions, which may be separated along a plane substantially intersecting the longitudinal axis of the motor and that of the flexible shaft. A bearing rotatably supports the flexible shaft extending therethrough and secures the first and second portions of the tubular extension together. A toothbrush is drivably attached to the other end of the flexible shaft for rotating therewith. Upon actuation of the pumps the paste and the fluid are applied to an oral cavity containing teeth, and the teeth therein may be cleaned by the toothbrush upon actuation of a switch energizing the motor, and direct application of the toothpaste and/or the liquid.
