The image processing device includes: a search means for searching an image portion including all characters from the acquired image; a character recognition means for recognizing a character to be recognized by collating the image of a character to be recognized included in the image portion searched by the search means with the model images of a plurality of types of characters; and an output means for outputting a recognition result recognized by the character recognition means for each cylindrical container.

    • A parison forming apparatus comprising: a molding die into which a gob is introduced; a plunger 1 entering into the inside of the molding die for forming a parison from the gob together with the molding die; a cylinder that allows the plunger 1 to reciprocally move with respect to the molding die; and a cooling device for introducing cooling air into the inside of the plunger 1 to cool the plunger 1. The base end portion of the plunger 1 is connected to and held by the head of a piston rod 12 of the cylinder via a plunger holding mechanism 2. The plunger holding mechanism 2 has an adapter 21 connected to the head of the piston rod 12, and the adapter 21 is integrally provided with a tubular part 33 having a fitting hole 32 adapted to the cylindrical outer shape of the base end portion of the plunger 1. The inside of the plunger 1 communicates with an air discharge passage through an exhaust passage 27 provided on the adapter 21, and the air discharge passage is configured to communicate with an exhaust device for guiding the air after cooling to the air discharging passage by applying a suction force to the air discharge passage, thereby exhausting the air to the outside.

Regions to be measured are set in regions corresponding to particular partial regions on an image obtained by capturing an image of a liquid surface of the bath to be monitored using a camera. The occupying ratio of an area occupied by image portions representing unmolten glass batches in each region, and a distribution state of the batches in the partial region is recognized from the measured value of the occupying ratios so as to determine whether the molten state quality of the batch is favorable. When the determined quality is not favorable, the amounts thereof to be charged by batch chargers are controlled so that appropriate distribution states can be obtained.
