    • A method of forming an actuator assembly (2, 30) includes crimping a first shape memory alloy wire (12) to a first patterned sheet (14). The first patterned sheet (14) includes a first frame (15), a first feature (16) supporting or defining a first crimp head (17) and connected to the first frame (15) by one or more first connecting members (18), and a second feature (19) supporting or defining a second crimp head (20) and connected to the first frame (15) by one or more second connecting members (21). The first shape memory alloy wire (12) is crimped between the first and second crimp heads (17, 20). The method also includes crimping a second shape memory alloy wire (13) to a second patterned sheet (22). The second patterned sheet (22) includes a second frame (23), a third feature (24) supporting a third crimp head (25) and connected to the second frame (23) by one or more third connecting members (26), and a fourth feature (27) supporting or defining a fourth crimp head (28) and connected to the second frame (23) by one or more fourth connecting members (29). The second shape memory alloy wire (13) is crimped between the third and fourth crimp heads (25, 28). The method also includes assembling the first patterned sheet (14), the second patterned sheet (22), a first part (3) and a second part (4) to form a first assembly. The first assembly is configured such that the first and third features (16, 25) are attached to the first part (3), the second and fourth features (19, 27) are attached to the second part (4), and the first part (3) is coupled to the second part (4) by a bearing arrangement (11) configured to couple a rotation of the second part (4) relative to the first part (3) about a primary axis to a translation of the second part relative to the first part along the primary axis. The method also includes severing each of the first and second connecting members (18, 21) to detach the first frame (15) and severing each of the third and fourth connecting members (26, 29) to detach the second frame (23).
