    • A folding chair has a support frame with a back support portion, front leg portions, and rear legs. A seat is pivotally coupled to the support frame. A flexible back support is coupled to the support frame, and has a lumbar support member extending down from the back support to reach a lumbar region of a user's back. The lumbar support member extends from the back support into a space between the back support and seat. The seat pivots in a downward direction away from the back support and lumbar support ID member, so that the seat folds without interfering with the lumbar support member. The back support also has a perimeter flange disposed across the rigid back support perimeter, and free to move with respect to the rigid support frame in response to a load applied to the flexible back support. The perimeter flange extends across a gap created between the flexible back support and the support frame, such that when a load is applied to the back support and the back support flexes, causing the gap to open, the perimeter flange conceals the gap as the flexible back support goes from a loaded position to an unloaded position, thereby preventing pinching of articles of clothing or skin of a user.

    • A pressure-sensitive switch comprises a base member having a mounting surface formed of electrically-insulating material; two electrodes mounted on the base member and each having an electrically-conductive contact surface, and a flexible diaphragm having its periphery secured in a fluid-tight manner to the mounting surface with its electrically-conductive central portion overlying the contact surfaces of the electrodes. The diaphragm, which is formed with plural corrugations, is exposed to the external pressure. When the switch is exposed to atmospheric pressure, the central portion of the diaphragm does not touch the contact surfaces of said electrodes, but when the switch is exposed to a super-atmospheric pressure, this central portion is forced into contact with both contact surfaces, thus electrically connecting the two electrodes. This pressure-sensitive switch is especially useful for use with hydrophones, as in seismic streamer cables.

    • An arcjet thruster has a body defining a constrictor and nozzle constituting an anode and forming an arc chamber. An elongated rod constitutes a cathode spaced from the constrictor by a gap generally coextensive with the arc chamber. An electrical potential is applied to the anode and cathode to generate an electrical arc in the arc chamber from the cathode to the anode. Propellant is supplied to the arc chamber with generation of the arc so as to produce thermal heating and expansion of the propellant through the nozzle. The thruster employs several features which improve its performance. One feature relates to the use of propellant blends with high specific impulse additives. Another feature relates to injection of the high specific impulse additive into the bulk propellant feed at the region of the cathode tip. Still another feature relates to recirculation of a small fraction of propellant from the constrictor region of the arc chamber and injection thereof into the bulk propellant feed at the region of the cathode tip. A final feature relates to regeneration and reaction of the bulk propellant feed within the structure of the anode body and circulation to the region of the cathode tip.
