    • A display apparatus includes: a display device; a display device driver which drives the display device; a compression section adapted to an operation of generating compression data by compression processing performed on image data; and a transmission section which, when receiving compressed data from the compression section, transmits the compressed data to the display device driver by using a serial data signal. The compression section performs the compression processing with a data compression ratio selected in response to a frame rate with which the display device driver drives the display device. The display device driver receives the serial data signal from the transmission section, generates decompressed data by decompressing the compressed data transmitted by the serial data signal, and drives the display device in response to the decompressed data. The data compression ratio used in the compression processing is set so that the transmission rate of the serial data signal from the transmission section to the display device driver is kept constant independently of the frame rate.

    • Disclosed herewith a liquid crystal display apparatus, which includes a liquid crystal display panel that employs the delta arrangement; a subtractive color processing circuit that carries out a subtractive color processing for input image data, thereby generating subtractive color image data; and data line driving circuit that drives the liquid crystal display panel in response to the subtractive color image data. The subtractive color processing circuit carries out a weighting processing that increases or decreases the subtractive color image data according to a line that includes a sub-pixel to be subjected to a subtractive color processing, then carries out an error diffusion processing for the result of the weighting processing, thereby generating subtractive color image data. The subtractive color processing circuit carries out the weighting processing so as to increase the subtractive color image data corresponding to a line and decrease the subtractive color image data corresponding to another line.

    • A display system includes: a display device, a transmitting device which generates compressed data by performing a compression process on image data corresponding to a display image, and a driver which drives the display device in response to the compressed data received from the transmitting device. The driver includes: a decompression circuit which generates decompressed data by decompressing the compressed data, an FRC circuit configured to perform an FEC process on the decompressed data to generate display data and a drive circuit which drives the display device in response to the display data. The following relation holds: m2>m3>m1, where m1 is a number of bits of the compressed data per pixel, m2 is a number of bits of the decompressed data per pixel and m3 is a number of bits of the display data per pixel.
