    • A developing unit supporting system designed for the purpose of minimizing space required for the removal of a developing unit to promote the miniaturization of an apparatus in which the system is incorporated and improving the efficiency when the developing unit is separated from the photosensitive drum. The system comprises: a carrier body which is supported on a fixed frame so as to move in a direction perpendicular to the axis of the photosensitive drum and is usually held at a developing unit set position by energizing device; and a slide table which can be moved in a direction perpendicular to the axis of the photosensitive drum to a mounting/dismounting position after it has moved relative to the carrier body in a direction substantially parallel with the axis of the photosensitive drum to a predetermined middle position. The fixed frame is provided with first movement operation device for operating the carrier body to move between the set position and a retraction position. The carrier body has second movement operation device for operating the slide table to move relative to the carrier body in a direction substantially parallel with the axis of the photosensitive drum.

    • A semiconductor device comprises an n-type emitter layer, a p-type base layer formed in contact with the n-type emitter layer, a first collector layer formed in contact with the base layer, and having a bandgap substantially equal to that of the p-type base layer, and a second collector layer formed in contact with the first collector layer, and having a bandgap wider than that of the first collector layer, the first collector layer having such a thickness that kinetic energy of electrons injected from the p-type base layer and flowing in the first collector layer is substantially 1.0 to 1.5 times the bandgap of the first collector layer at an interface between the first collector layer and the second collector layer. Electrons injected into the base layer can flow at very high speed in the first collector layer, because the first collector layer has a narrow bandgap. In addition, the avalanche breakdown never takes place in the first collector layer, because kinetic energy of the electrons is lower than substantially 1.0 to 1.5 times the bandgap of the first collector layer.

    • An automotive meter comprising a meter case, a dial plate fixedly disposed within the meter case, indicating needles provided in front of the dial plate, meter units respectively for driving the indicating needles according to measured values, and an ultraviolet lamp for irradiating the front surface of the dial plate by ultraviolet rays. The dial plate is formed by printing a grid layer on the backside of a transparent base plate with an ultraviolet ink, printing a ground layer on the grid layer with an ultraviolet ink, and printing dial patterns including graduations and characters on the front surface of the base plate with an ultravviolet ink. When the dial plate is irradiated by ultraviolet rays emitted by the ultraviolet lamp in the nighttime, the shadows of the dial patterns are cast on the interface between the base plate and the grid layer, the grid layer and the ground layer become luminous in similar colors and the dial patterns become luminous in a color different from those of the grid layer and the ground layer. The shadows of the dial patterns emphasizes the appearance of tridimensionality of the dial patterns.

    • An IC card is disclosed which comprises a card-shaped main substrate having a surface on which recess portions are formed and an edge portion having a connector layer with an external connector terminal pattern formed thereon, circuit modules embedded in the recess portions in main substrate, each module having electronic components including IC chips, a chip capacitor and a thin D.C. battery unit, and a double-layered wiring structure for providing electric connection between the electronic components and the connector terminal pattern. The double-layered wiring structure comprises a first wiring layer formed on the main substrate to cover the circuit modules and a second wiring layer formed insulatively above the former wiring layer. The first wiring layer has a first wiring pattern that extends in a first direction of the main substrate to be coupled to the electronic components. The second wiring layer has a second wiring pattern that extends in a second direction of the main substrate to be coupled to the first wiring pattern and the connector terminal pattern.

    • In a color separation prism system for a color television camera, a bias light source is located at a position substantially displaced from one or the other of the two intersections of (i) a plane including the optical axis of the taking lens of the camera and perpendicular to the plane including the optical axes of the three color light beams incident to the pick up tubes and (ii) the two parallel edges of a prism block formed by the entrance face thereof to which the light from the taking lens of the camera is incident and the upper and lower parallel faces of the prism block parallel to the plane including the optical axes of the three color light beams. The color separation prism system is particularly suitable for use in a system in which the refractive index of the glass constituting the prism blocks is as high as 1.7.
