摘要： Provided is a projection type liquid crystal display apparatus, which can improve black-level display and thus can display a higher-contrast image as compared to the related art. An optical compensator is located on the light exit side with respect to the liquid crystal display device so as to compensate for the optical phase difference caused by liquid crystal molecules in a light-entry-side region of the liquid crystal layer. As the optical compensator is located on the light exit side with respect to the liquid crystal display device, birefringence, caused by the liquid crystal molecules present in the light-entry-side region, is compensated for without being influenced by a microlenses provided in the liquid crystal plane. Consequently, the apparatus can improve the black-level display and thus can display a higher-contrast image as compared to the related art. Further, a phase difference caused by the birefringence of the nematic liquid crystal molecule is compensated for by using a substance having properties optically opposite to the positive crystal, namely, a substance having birefringence equivalent to birefringence of a negative crystal.

摘要： A backup system includes a first storage device having first storage areas in which an update log of recorded data is stored; a second storage device having second storage areas which are paired with the first storage areas respectively and in which a copy of the update log is stored; and a disk controller. The state of a pair of first and second storage areas is changed from a non-pair state in which the update log is not stored in the pair of first and second storage areas to a pair state. The state of another pair of first and second storage areas is changed from a pair state to a non-pair state. The disk controller includes first and second disk controllers for controlling the first and second storage devices, respectively. The changes of pair/non-pair states are executed by the first disk controller.

摘要： An information recording apparatus for recording information to an optical recording medium including a disk-like substrate, a spiral or concentric-shaped groove structure along tracks formed on the disk-like substrate, each of the tracks being divided into a plurality of recording units, each of the recording units including a dropout portion of the groove structure along the track in a circumferential direction of the track, the dropout portion being a non-groove portion and the groove structure being wobbled in a fixed cycle in a radial direction, the fixed cycle of the wobble continuing in the circumferential direction along the track. The information recording apparatus includes an irradiation source for irradiating a light spot on the optical recording medium, and a controller for controlling an irradiation position of an optical spot from the irradiation source.

摘要： An information recording apparatus for recording information to an optical recording medium including a disk-like substrate having a plurality of tracks and associated with a plurality of grooves. A plurality of zones are provided on the disk-like substrate and each zone includes at least two tracks. Each track is divided into a plurality of recording units of substantially the same length. The grooves are wobbled in the radial direction and a length of each recording unit is an integer multiple of a cycle of the wobble which is the same for the different zones. The information recording apparatus includes an irradiation source for irradiating a light spot on the optical recording medium, and a controller for controlling an irradiation position of an optical spot from the irradiation source.

摘要： It is the object of the invention to provide a magnetic head and a magnetic storage apparatus using the magnetic head provided with a signal reproducing means which is capable of using the same signal processing circuit as used for the conventional longitudinal magnetization film type recording medium even when a perpendicular magnetization film type recording medium is used. Because the present invention renders the reproducing signal generated from a perpendicular magnetization film Gaussian shaped (Lorentzian pulse), the same signal processing circuit as used for the conventional longitudinal magnetization film type recording medium can be used. To accomplish this object, in the reproducing means which is the component of the information reproducing component of the magnetic head, the first spin valve element and the second valve element are piled up, the magnetization direction of pinned layers of both elements is prescribed so as to be antiparallel each other, and lead electrodes of both elements are connected so as to be common. When two spin valve elements are piled up to compose a reproducing means, the first spin valve element is structured so as to have an Ru film between the first ferromagnetic film and the second ferromagnetic film and so as to have a Cu film between the second ferromagnetic film and the third ferromagnetic film, and the second spin valve element is structured so as to have a Cu film between the fourth ferromagnetic film and the fifth ferromagnetic film. These two elements are piled up with interposition of a desired spacer film adjacently.

摘要： Each of a plurality of simulation programs is linked with a data conversion library and is executed as a simulation process. A data conversion process is executed in correspondence with each simulation process. In exchanging data resulted from simulation by the simulation process of one of the simulation programs with simulation processes of the other simulation programs, the data conversion process provided for a sending simulation process determines a receiving simulation process to which the data is to be sent, and sends the data to the data conversion process corresponding to the receiving simulation process. The data conversion process for the receiving simulation process performs data conversion for absorbing difference between the base of the sending simulation process and the base of the receiving simulation process, and transfers the data after the conversion to the receiving simulation process.
