摘要： A nip former that forms a nip between an endless belt and a pressure rotator includes a base that is made of aluminum and has a nip forming face disposed opposite the nip. An anodic oxidation coating is treated with sealing and coats at least the nip forming face. The anodic oxidation coating has a thickness that is not smaller than 22 μm and is not greater than 45 μm and a variation in thickness that is not greater than 20 percent. The base and the anodic oxidation coating define a nip forming portion that is disposed opposite the nip. The nip forming portion has a thickness that is not smaller than 0.40 mm and is not greater than 1.20 mm.

摘要： A fixing device includes a fixing rotator and a pressure rotator that is disposed opposite the fixing rotator. A nip former is disposed inside a loop formed by the fixing rotator and disposed opposite the pressure rotator via the fixing rotator to form a fixing nip between the fixing rotator and the pressure rotator. The fixing rotator slides over the nip former. A flange supports the fixing rotator at both lateral ends of the fixing rotator in a longitudinal direction of the fixing rotator. The nip former includes a base and a thermal conductor that has a thermal conductivity greater than a thermal conductivity of the base. The base is greater than the thermal conductor in the longitudinal direction of the fixing rotator. The base includes a groove that is disposed outboard at least from the thermal conductor in the longitudinal direction of the fixing rotator.

The cutting tool includes a tool body having a main flow path and second branch flow paths and cutting edges formed on the outer peripheral surface of the tool body. Recessed pockets are formed in the outer peripheral surface of the cutting tool at the respective portions opposed to the bush surfaces of the support jigs. A set screw is detachably fitted to each of the second branch flow paths. The set screw includes an orifice allowing the upstream side and the downstream side of each of the second branch flow paths to communicate with each other.

摘要： An image forming apparatus of the present invention includes a conveyance path extending from a sheet tray to an image forming section. A switchback path with a reversing device is connected to the intermediate portion of the conveyance path for switching back a sheet thereon. The switchback path reduces an interval between consecutive sheets being conveyed in the apparatus for thereby enhancing the productivity of image formation. In addition, the switchback path switches back a sheet being conveyed via a refeed path and the above conveyance path in a duplex print mode, thereby obviating the need of an exclusive switchback path for the duplex print mode. The apparatus is reduced in thickness despite the presence of the switchback path.

摘要： An image forming apparatus for electrostatically transferring a latent image formed on a photoconductive drum or similar image carrier to a recording medium held by a clamp drum or similar medium conveying member. The clamp drum has a cylinder or base made of aluminum, a conductive rubber layer covering the cylinder, and an overcoat layer covering the rubber layer and higher in electric resistance than the rubber layer. A bias voltage for latent image transfer is applied while the rubber layer is connected to ground. The photoconductive drum and clamp drum are pressed against each other by a predetermined force, the former following the rotation of the latter. The photoconductive drum is provided with a photoconductor having a great electrostatic capacity, thereby preventing the effective transfer voltage at the time of image transfer from increasing.

摘要： A peel-apart type instant photographic apparatus using a negative film and a positive sheet. The apparatus has a dark box for developing and accommodating the negative film and positive sheet, or supply, joined together and having a developer spread therebetween. The dark box is removable from the apparatus body and, therefore, easy to clean and handle. When the dark box is not mounted on the apparatus body in predetermined conditions, a printing operation is inhibited to eliminate the waste of negative sheets and positive sheets. A printing operation is also inhibited when the supply is left in the dark box.
