    • A lamp assembly adapted to operate as one of a total number of lamp assemblies that are connected together in series and connected to a ballast. The lamp assembly comprises an electrodeless, closed-loop, tubular lamp envelope enclosing mercury vapor and a buffer gas, and a transformer core disposed around a portion of the lamp envelope. An input winding is disposed on the transformer core so that it has a particular number of turns, Ninput. An auxiliary winding is disposed on the transformer core so that it has a particular number of turns, Nauxiliary. The auxiliary winding is adapted to connect to the ballast and to couple with the input winding. The ratio of the particular number of turns Ninput to the particular number of turns Nauxiliary is substantially proportional to the total number of lamp assemblies that are adapted to operate in series together.

    • System and method are provided where a plurality of luminaires, control switches, occupancy detectors, and photocells are connected to a central control module including a user interface which is used for setting up, testing, commissioning and maintaining the system; a memory card interface and associated memory card which can be used to load and save configuration data, update firmware, and log system operation. Lighting system can be set up and tested and then the configuration saved in a portable memory, such as on a memory card which can be transferred to another system where it is read to facilitate faster and easier configuring of the other system to parallel, or to be exactly like, the original system. Data stored on a portable memory can be automatically recognized to perform appropriate actions such as, for example: update configuration, or update firmware. Also provided is switching between different mutually exclusive lighting modes where the lighting of each mode is sequenced such that the second lighting mode is initiated before the first mode is terminated, resulting in a continuity of lighting in the controlled area. Other features include daylight harvesting control with multiple zone dimming and switching, programmable attack and decay dimming rates, the ability to return a system to its previous dimming level after the lights have been turned off, and the ability to start the controlled lights at full light level then dim down to the previous level to ensure the lighting ballast have sufficient voltage to start up.

    • Techniques, systems, and computer program products that facilitate tailoring image data packets to properties of print heads in a printing system. Control software in the printing system remote from the print head(s) may send a query to a print head over a control channel and receive a reply include information characterizing parameters of the print head, e.g., specific configuration information or a part number. The control software may use the information characterizing the properties of the print head to look up specification details of the layout of print elements in the print head and use that information to configure image data packet generating components in the control software for the particular print head layout.

    • Techniques, systems, and computer program products that facilitate image printing. A technique may include receiving an image to be printed, using a first software component to selectively pre-process the image depending on a format of the image, and using a second software component to generate image queues from the pre-processed image. In that technique, each image queue includes at least one portion of image data associated with an association of print elements that corresponds to a configuration of print elements at a printing device. The technique may be implemented in a scalable system, by having multiple first software components and multiple second software components, where each of the first and/or second components can reside on a separate computer system.

    • A prosthetic implant for partial resurfacing of the ulna at the distal radioulnar (DRU) joint which comprises a stem and an ulnar head. The combination of the anchoring stem and the head that is shaped and proportioned to replace only a portion of the distal ulnar head and the radial articulating surface and to interface with the resected ulna at a proximal stabilizing surface provides excellent stability in the completed implant. In the preferred embodiment, a pair of strategically located surfaces aligned at an obtuse angle provides the stabilizing surface arrangement. The provision of a set of such implants with different head and stem sizes allows a surgeon to best accommodate the physiology of a particular patient and locate a resurfaced head section offset from the canal center in order to provide a convex articular surface adjacent the radius which will allow the radius to smoothly pivot and translate around such resurfaced ulnar head during pivoting of the forearm.

    • A dual pump irrigation/aspiration pump system capable of operating in a plurality of different modes suitable for a variety of different endoscopic surgical procedures. The system monitors actual or calculated intra-articular pressure and adjusts flow to maintain surgeon requested pressure at the surgical site while controlling outflow. The irrigation/aspiration pump system has an inflow pump and tubing dedicated to communicating fluid to the surgical work site and an outflow pump and tubing dedicated to removing fluid from the work site at a controlled rate. The system further has different size inflow and outflow pumps and tubing cassettes, means for altering the outflow fluid flow rate to accommodate a surgical tool and a means for declogging the surgical tool in the event of blockage. In a preferred embodiment a pressure control system provides inferred pressure information representative of the pressure at the work site.
