CONSTITUTION: The diameter of an OF pipe 3 is denoted by (d) in a horizontal section 4 in which the OF pipe 3 starts to descend. A gas-blowing nozzle 6 is provided, so that the tip 5 thereof is positioned in a range of height higher and lower than the horizontal section by 2d and (d) while keeping the horizontal section 4 as a center. When gas 14 is ejected from the gas-blowing nozzle 6, bubbles 1 formed in a cleaning liquid tank 2 by ejector effect are sucked and introduced into the OF pipe 3. Bubbles after absorption are passed through the lower end 7 of the OF pipe 3 and recovered in the cleaning liquid tank 2. The gas after defoaming is discharged through a degassing pipe 8 but bubbling is not caused because the gas is not allowed to collide against the liquid level 15 in the OF pipe. The upper end of the communication part of the OF pipe 3 and the degassing pipe 8 is necessarily positioned in a spot lower than the horizontal section 4 in which the OF pipe starts to descend by >=3d in order to efficiently obtain defoaming effect.

CONSTITUTION:At the time of continuously applying the hot dip galvanizing to a long steel sheet 4 in the galvanizing vessel 1 containing the hot dipping zinc bath 13, the bottom dross 2 is deposited at the bottom part of the galvanizing vessel 1. This deposited bottom dross 2 is sucked from a sucking hole 5 in a guide tube 6 provided with a pump 6A and guided into the settling box 7 arranged in the galvanizing vessel 1 to settle the bottom dross 2 at the bottom part. Supernatant in the hot dipping zinc bath settling and separating the bottom dross 2 is returned back into the galvanizing vessel 1 from an opening 8 arranged at the upper part of the settling box 7 and again used as the hot dipping zinc bath 13. The bottom dross is separated from the hot dipping zinc bath in the simple device without high expense and the device is prevented from deterioration of the quality in the galvanized layer by sticking a part of the bottom dross 2 to the galvanized steel sheet 4.

The coating liquid is a water-base coating. The temperature of the steel strip when the coating with the coating film is performed is made to 50-95°C. Since a roll is not used at coating, the coating film can be formed without any problem. A drying device after coating is not required and coating with a clear coating film can be performed on a plating line existing from conventional.

Since the water-soluble solvent is used, a moisture content in the water base surface treatment film is possibly dissolved in the coating and it can be permeated through the coating and escape into an atmosphere. As a result, the foaming is not generated.
