    • PURPOSE: To eliminate dispersion in received light, by providing a PLZT electronic chopper having the functions of optical modulation and a filter in a light projecting system, changing a voltage applied to the chopper, thereby changing spectroscopic transmittance.
CONSTITUTION: A light projecting system 20 is formed by a light source lamp 1, a light projecting optical system 3 and a PLZT electronic chopper 14. A polarizing plate 18 is bonded to a PLZT wafer 16 having an electrode 15 by a low- viscosity resin 17. Glass 19 is stuck to each of the polarizing plates 17. Thus the chopper 14 is formed. A light receiving system 21 is formed by a light receiving optical system 8 and a light receiving element 11. A driving circuit 23 for the chopper 14 and an I-V conversion amplifier circuit 22 of the electric signal of the element 11 are controlled by a control circuit 24. A voltage applied to the chopper 14 is changed and its spectroscopic transmittance is changed. The color of the reflected light from a body 2 is judged. Thus movable parts can be omitted from the light projecting and receiving systems 20 and 21.

    • PURPOSE:To fix an optical fiber to a ferrule without tools for exclusive use by forming a flexible piece, which is divided by slits and has a thread, on a fiber insertion hole of the ferrule and engaging a clamp screw with this thread to constrict the insertion hole uniformly. CONSTITUTION:A flexible piece 2b which has an inclined thread 9 and is divided to plural pieces by slits 8 is formed on a fiber insertion hole 2a of a ferrule 2, and an optical fiber 3 is inserted to the insertion hole 2a, and a clamp screw 10 is engaged with the thread 9 to fix the fiber 3. An optical element 14 attached to a cylinder part 15 of a receptacle 12 and a fiber core 3a are brought into contact with each other. A projection 20 of the receptacle 12 is fitted to an angular hole on a movable piece 5 of a cap 7 having a slit 4 to connect a connector; and if the fiber 3 is slipped off, the clamp screw 10 is loosened to insert the core 3a again, and thus, the fiber 3 is used again easily.

    • PURPOSE:To make it possible to detect the humidity of a linear area, by a methof wherein a definite amount of incident light containing infrared rays is introduced into a plastic fiber from one end thereof while the light amount emitting from the other end thereof is measured. CONSTITUTION:Light containing infrared rays emitting from a light emitting diode D by passing a current therethrough from a battery B through a resistor R is introduced into one end F1 of a plastic fiber F and the emitted light from the other end F2 thereof is irradiated to a phototransistor PT constituting a detecting circuit to be converted to a current which is in turn amplified by an amplifier A to be added to an ammeter M. Because the plastic fiber F has hygroscopicity and infrared rays are absorbed by absorbed moisture, if a light amount entering the plastic fiber F is made constant, emitting light amount from the fiber end F2 is changed corresponding to the humidity of the area in which the plastic fiber F is arranged and, by detecting the light amount difference of the incident light amount and the emitting light amount by the detecting circuit, the humidity of the area in which the plastic fiber F is arranged can be detected.
