    • The invention relates to an ablator composition for providing ablation protection. The ablator composition comprises 100 parts by weight of a mixture of vinyl-containing organopolysiloxanes, the mixture containing 50-80 wt. % of a diorganopolysiloxane which contains vinyl groups and 20-50 wt. % of a silicone resin which contains vinyl groups; an organohydrogenpolysiloxane containing in one molecule thereof at least three hydrogen atoms which are directly bonded to silicon atoms thereof; a catalyst which is at least one selected from the group consisting of metallic platinum and platinum compounds; up to 150 parts by weight of silica microballoons; and at least one selected from the group consisting of up to 15 parts by weight of quartz glass fibers and up to 15 parts by weight of carbon fibers. An ablator material prepared by curing the ablator composition has a low surface recession rate even under a condition of a high heating rate such as about 4 MW/m.sup.2 and a high pressure such as about one atmospheric pressure.

    • A process for preparing a liquid silicone rubber base composition of the type which comprises (A) an organopolysiloxane of the following average compositional formula (1)R.sub.a SiO.sub.(4-a)/2 (1)wherein each R independently represents an unsubstituted or substituted monovalent hydrocarbon group and a is a value of from 1.95 to 2.05, and (B) a finely divided silica filler is described. The process comprises the steps of mixing a first portion of the ingredient (A) and the ingredient (B) at a temperature not higher than 80.degree. C., further mixing a second portion of the ingredient (A) with the mixture obtained in the first step at a temperature not higher than 80.degree. C. and subjecting the resultant mixture to thermal treatment at a temperature of 130.degree. to 200.degree. C. By this, the base composition has good fluidity and is able to yield a cured product having good tear strength under stress.

    • The fluorine-substituted organopolysiloxane as the principal ingredient of the inventive silicone rubber composition has vinyl groups to serve as the cross-linking points at the molecular chain terminals while at least the penultimate siloxane unit or the silicon atom adjacent to the terminal silicon atom has no fluorine-substituted hydrocarbon group bonded to the silicon atom.
