摘要： Methods and apparatus for the supply of non-invasive positive pressure ventilation by motor-driven blowers, and having fast acceleration between treatment pressures, are described. A blower (12) supplies treatment pressure of air or breathable gas to a patient mask (16) via a conduit (14) at a first pressure and at a second, higher pressure. The blower (12) receives its power from a power supply (22) and cascaded motor controller (20). The power supply (22) has the capacity to supply sufficient power for the first pressure to be achieved. A static capacitor (24), that is charged by the power supply (22), provides the energy to the blower (12) to achieve the second pressure, during which period the power supply (22) is effectively shut down.

A humidifier for respiratory apparatus includes a first respiratory gas passage for receiving gas from a flow generator, a humidifier chamber, a second respiratory gas passage for delivering humidified gas to a patient interface, and a heater in thermal contact with the gas and/or the water, wherein the heater includes an elongate heating filament extending along at least part of both said first and second respiratory gas passages. A conduit for use in a respiratory apparatus for delivering breathable gas to a patient includes a tube; a helical rib on an outer surface of the tube; and a plurality of wires supported by the helical rib in contact with the outer surface of the tube.

The humidification apparatus has a helical configuration for the semi-permeable membrane portion, a structural reinforcing member or members, a water channel and a heating element. 摘要： The present invention provides a vent assembly suitable for use with a respiratory mask of the type used in CPAP treatment. In one embodiment the vent is made of a thin air permeable membrane. Generally, the membrane is thinner than 0.5 mm. The membrane can be made of a hydrophobic material such as polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE). The membrane can also be fabricated from expanded PTFE. The expanded PTFE membrane is mounted on a polypropylene scrim. The pores of the membrane have a reference pore size of 10 to 15 microns. In an alternative embodiment, the vent assembly includes a vent constructed from stainless steel. In another embodiment the membrane has a superficial cross-sectional area of approximately 500 mm2. In another embodiment the vent assembly comprises a membrane attached to a vent frame, the vent assembly forming an insert which can be removably attached to a mask frame.
