摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a continuous casting apparatus and a continuous casting method for effectively suppressing breakage of a solidified shell in a cooling stage.
SOLUTION: A continuous casting apparatus 1 cools the outer surface of the molten steel supplied into the intermediate part, forms a solidified shell 31, forms the molten steel into an almost sheet-state and feeds the sheet-like molten steel downward. A pair of facing rolls 10, 10 are provided to the apparatus 1. The rolls have each a bulging part 13 at the center of the side surface and contracting parts 12 at both sides of the side surface. The flowing width of the molten steel passing between the rolls 10, 10 is narrowed with the bulging part 13, and the flat surface part 31a of the formed solidified shell 31 is curved into the inside.

In these pinch rolls 1, 2, 3, 4, the peripheral speed of the pinch rolls 1 at the nearest to the mold part 43a is made to the same as the peripheral speed of driving pulleys 44 for belts 43, and while standardizing the speed of No.1 pinch rolls 1, each speed rates of the No.2, No.3 and No.4 pinch rolls 2, 3, 4 at the downstream side are set so as to become gradually larger as going to the downstream side, and the speed of the No.1 pinch rolls is made so as not to become lower than the setting value.

The corner part is also tapered in the longitudinal direction to keep the contact of the mold 1 with a solidified shell at the corner part.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make electromagnetic brake and electromagnetic stirring simultaneously act by making magnetic field act on a specific condition at a position in a lower part from a pouring nozzle, at the same time of continuously casting a metallic billet by using a cooling mold having square cross section. SOLUTION: In case of continuously casting the metallic billet by using the cooling mold 1 having the square cross section, four magnetic poles 7 composed of ferromagnetic body are arranged at the position in the lower part from the nozzle 2 for supplying molten steel and at the outside position of the cooling mold 1. Exciting coil 6 is arranged on the outer periphery of the magnetic pole 7, and by this constitution, the magnetic field is made to act at the lower position from the nozzle 2. Magnetic flux density at the center part of the cooling mold 1 is made 2250-4150 gauss and exciting frequency is made the frequency range shown in the inequality. In the inequality, (f) is frequency (Hz), D is size (m) in the mold. AC currents having different current phase at 180 deg. degree are conducted to the coils of the faced magnetic poles 7 and AC currents having different current phase at 90 deg. angle are conducted to the coils of the adjacent magnetic poles 7. By this method, the quantity of the cast billet is improved.

Two other coils of the three-phase exciting windings are connected to the AC power source 8. The DC power source 13 and the AC power source 8 are connected in parallel to the coil 6, the DC power source is shut off from the AC power source 8 by a capacitor 21a, and the alternating current is cut from the DC power source 13 by the inductance which is much larger than that of the exciting coil 6. As a result, the current where the alternating current and the direct current are interposed flows in the exciting coil 6.

摘要： PURPOSE: To obtain a method and an apparatus which reduce a drop in measuring accuracy due to an increase in a solidification thickness by applying magnetic fields having at least two mudually different frequencies to a continuous- casting cast piece and detecting a voltage which is due to an eddy current generated in an unsolidified part inside the cast piece. CONSTITUTION: When the solidification thickness (t) of a cast piece 1 is measured, frequencies from an AC power supply 9 are changed alternately from f1 to f2 , and an alternating current is applied to an exciting coil 6 at a low- velocity sensor 4. At this time, the component of an exciting magnetic flux is removed by a phase regulating circuit 10 from sensor output voltages V1 , V2 according to frequencies obtained from a search coil 7. In addition, by using respective gap detection voltages Vg1 , Vg2 obtained from a coil 8 for gap detection, gap change positions in the sensor output voltages V1 , V2 are corrected by a correction circuit 12 so as to be removed. By using the ratio V2 /V1 of the sensor output voltages V1 , V2 of which inessential portions have been removed in this manner, a computing and processing operation is performed by a signal processing circuit 13, and the solidification thickness (t) is found.

摘要： PURPOSE:To prevent fall of the temp. of a pouring nozzle during pouring operation and to prevent adhesion of solidified matter and alumina to the pouring nozzle by supplying a combustion supporting gas and a combustible gas to plural combustion holes bored at the circumference of a pouring path and joining these gases, thereby burning the gases in the combustion holes. CONSTITUTION:The combustion supporting gas is supplied from a combustion supporting gas header 7 through a combustion supporting gas pipe to the combustion holes 8. The combustible gas is supplied from a gaseous propane pipe 12 to a combustible gas header 5 simultaneously therewith. The combustible gas is passed through the combustible gas supply path 6 and communicating holes 9 and supplied to the combustion holes 8. Then, the combustible gas is then mixed with the combustion supporting gas 13 and the mixture is burned by the heat of the high-temp. combustion supporting gas in the combustion holes 8, which the high-temp. combustion gases 12a are formed. The combustion gases 12a heat the pouring nozzle body 1 in the process of passing the combustion holes 8 and thereafter, the combustion gases are ejected out of openings to the molten metal surface 31 of a mold section 51 to heat the molten metal surface 31. Since the circumference of the pouring path 3 is provided with the plural combustion holes 8, the pouring nozzle body 1 is uniformly heated and is held at a high temp.
