    • A magnetic tape cassette storing case includes a cover member, and a casing member which is pivotally coupled to the cover member. Rotation preventing protrusions are so positioned that they are engaged with the hubs of a magnetic tape cassette whether the cassette is inserted in a first predetermined direction or in a second predetermined direction which is opposite to the first predetermined direction. Two pair of recesses for receiving the thicker portion of the cassette are formed in each of the major walls of the cover member and the casing member which, when the cassette is put in the storing case, cover the upper and lower surfaces of the cassette, in such a manner as to permit insertion of the cassette not only in the first predetermined direction but also in the second predetermined direction.

    • A method and apparatus for molding plastic articles in two colors, particularly, the bodies of magnetic tape cassettes, in which a strong bonding force is provided between the two portions without having to form a recess and projection on the joining edges of the two portions. A slide core, which is moved in and out of a primary mold cavity between the mold of the two portions of the article, is provided with a tubular passage having an opening within the primary mold cavity along edge portions of the slide core. The slide core is fully inserted into the primary mold cavity to mold the first portion, then partially withdrawn to form a seconary mold cavity in which the second portion is subsequently molded. After molding the first portion, an adhesive is injected through the tubular passage along the edges of the first portion which will join corresponding edges of the second portion to thereby firmly join the two portions.

    • A case for a magnetic tape cassette in which the cassette can be inserted into the casing without having to pay attention to the orientation of the upper and lower faces of the cassette and which can be manufactured with a high efficiency. The cassette includes a casing portion having four walls surrounding on four sides a space of substantially the same configuration and size as the exterior of a magnetic tape cassette. Right and left sides of the casing portion are open to provide insertion openings, each having a shape corresponding to the vertical cross-sectional shape of a side face of the magnetic tape cassette. A pivotally openable lid portion of the casing has a pair of stoppers for retaining the hubs of the cassette and provided on the wall for movement between open and closed positions so as to form part of the wall.

    • A single reel with magnetic tape wound thereon is housed in a case. A restraining member, for restricting rotation of the reel by moving toward or away from the reel, is urged in a restraining direction by an urging member. The pushing-up portions of a releasing member are inserted into the through holes bored in the reel gear of the reel 2 so that the lower ends can abut a driving gear. The releasing member moves the restraining member in a releasing direction by moving according to the chucking operation of drive-side rotation drive means. In this manner, reel-rotation restraining means allows rotation of the reel when being used and restricts the rotation when not being used. In this construction, each of the through holes is bored between the tooth edges of the reel gear so that the releasing member can perform a reliable releasing operation.

    • A magnetic tape cartridge with an improved reel-rotation restraining mechanism is disclosed. The reel-rotation restraining mechanism has a reel locking member, which is movable toward and away from the reel, for restricting rotation thereof; an urging member for urging the reel locking member in a restraining direction; and an releasing member, which is rotatable integrally with the reel, for moving the reel locking member in an unlocking direction by moving according to a chucking operation of a rotation drive mechanism of a drive unit. The releasing member has three leg portions on the vertexes of a triangular plate portion insertable into through holes in the reel. The releasing member is sized so that with part of the releasing member inserted into a center opening of the reel, and two of the three leg portions positioned near the through holes, the remaining one leg portion can be dropped and inserted within the center opening.
