    • A liquid crystal display device which includes a liquid crystal layer formed between a pair of polymer film substrates. A pair of polarizing plates are formed on outer surfaces of each of the substrates. Moreover, a thickness of each of the substrates D (&mgr;m) and a thickness of each of the polarizing plates L (&mgr;m) satisfy D=L±30 &mgr;m. A thickness of protecting layers forming each polarizing plate may be 50 &mgr;m or less and a thickness of a polarizer of a polarizing plate may be 20 &mgr;m. A cohesive layer may be provided to attach each polarizing plate to the liquid crystal device, and such a cohesive layer may have a thickness of at least 50 &mgr;m. A spacer layer can be provided in conjunction with the cohesive layer.

    • A film unit for an instant camera includes a photosensitive sheet connected with a leader sheet. A carrier sheet is partly superposed on the leader sheet and bonded thereto at one end, and a drawer member is bonded to the leader sheet, at one end, near the bonding portion between the carrier sheet and the leader sheet. The other end of the drawer member is projected outside the camera body when the film unit is loaded in the camera. An image receiving sheet to which an image formed on the photosensitive sheet is transferred, is connected to the other end of the carrier sheet. When the projecting end of the drawer member is pulled after exposure, the leading end of the leader sheet is pulled to be inserted between a pair of pressure rolls and to be projected outside the camera body by way of the bonding portion between the drawer member and the leader sheet, with the drawer member being peeled off the leader sheet thereafter. When the projecting end of the leader sheet is subsequently pulled, the photosensitive sheet is superposed on the image receiving sheet, and at the same time a developing solution bag containing therein developing solution is pinched by the pressure rolls and broken to permit the developing solution to flow between the photosensitive sheet and the image receiving sheet. The bonding portion between the drawer member and the leader sheet is of V-shape.

    • A processing unit for a substrate comprises a partition 6 provided between an atmospheric area S1 and an inert gas area S2. The partition 6 has an opening 22 to communicate the atmospheric area S1 and the inert gas area S2. A door 23 is provided at the opening 22 to open and close it. Carrier holding device 11 is provided for holding a carrier 2 of the substrate in such a manner that the carrier 2 comes in contact with the opening 22 on the side of the atmospheric area. Inert gas replacing device 56 is provided for replacing a gas in the carrier 2 with an inert gas by introducing the inert gas into the carrier 2 when the door 23 closes the opening 22 and the carrier 2 comes in contact with the opening 22 on the side of the atmospheric area by the carrier holding device 11. This processing unit can perform the process of the substrate without increasing the concentration of the oxygen in the inert gas area S2 by preventing leakage of the air from the atmospheric area S1 into the inert gas area S2.
