The signal processing data collection blocks may generate data such as statistical data, frequency analysis data, auto regression data, wavelets data, etc. The system displays an image representative of the devices and representative of a context of the devices within the process plant. Additionally, data based on signal processing data corresponding to one or more devices is displayed. For example, the signal processing data for the device could be displayed. As another example, data may be generated based on the signal processing data and this generated data may be displayed.

    • A method for determining real time load values experienced by a bearing includes providing a bearing with an inner race, an outer race, and a plurality of rolling elements disposed therebetween. Mounting a plurality of strain gages to the bearing, and collecting data of the strains measured under a plurality of known load conditions. Correlating the strains measured at each strain gage position to the load at that position for each of the plurality of load conditions to develop a first equation for each strain gage position defining the load as a function of the strain measured. Mounting the bearing to a machine, using the machine under loaded conditions, and collecting the strain gage data produced. Using the equations for each strain gage position to convert the strain measured into a load. Summing the loads experienced by the bearing to determine the total load being experienced by the bearing.

    • An over-running clutch pulley of the preferred embodiment includes a sheave member, a hub member located substantially concentrically within the sheave member, a sealing member, and a clutch member, which cooperate to rotationally engage the drive belt and the cylindrical shaft. The sheave member preferably includes a sheave input section adapted to engage the input device, a sheave clutch section defining a sheave clutch surface, and a sheave flange element. Similarly, the hub member preferably includes a hub output section adapted to engage the output device, a hub clutch section defining a hub clutch surface, and a hub lip element. The sealing member preferably includes a seal outer section frictionally engaged with the sheave flange element, and a seal inner section slidably engaged with the hub lip element. The sealing member preferably functions to substantially seal a cavity defined by the sheave flange element and the hub lip element.

    • An apparatus and method for automatically positioning a plurality of suction devices over the throat of envelope to lift the throat. The apparatus includes: a base section pivotably mounted on a pivot shaft; a carriage movably mounted on the base section; a pair of pivot arms, wherein one end of each pivot arm is pivotably mounted on the carriage, and the other end extends out of the carriage for mounting an inner suction device; two outer arms movably mounted on the pivot shaft on opposite sides of the base section for mounting two outer suction devices; and means for rotating the pivot arms in order to adjust the distance between the two inner suction devices, moving the carriage in order to adjust the distance between the inner suction devices and the pivot shaft, and transporting the outer arms in opposite directions relative to the base station to adjust the distance between the outer suction devices so as to position the suction devices over the throat of the envelope according to width and the throat profile of the envelope. The apparatus further includes means for entering information regarding the width and throat profile; means for computing the locations of the suction devices; means for conveying the computed locations to the suction device placing mechanisms and means for pitching the outer arms and the base section about the pivot shaft to cause the suction devices to contact the throat of the envelope.

    • A method and apparatus for the automation of an envelope opening station wherein a plurality of suction cups are placed over the throat section of an envelope to lift the throat in order to spread open the envelope. The method and the apparatus use an electronic imaging device to acquire the image of the envelope including the width and the throat section thereof. An electronic processor is used to determine the width and the throat profile of the envelope from the acquired image and compute the preferred locations for placing the suction cups on the envelope. A positioning device is used to adjust the location of the suction cups in accordance with the preferred locations.
