    • A detachment mechanism, and methods of use, for use in delivering a medical device preferably over a guidewire are provided. The detachment mechanism includes a first and second engagement member. The members are configured to receive the guidewire and have a first end attached to the control member and the device, respectively, a second end, and a notch formed in the body to form an interlocking tooth. The notch is sized to receive the interlocking tooth of the other member. The members are interlockable to couple the medical device to the control member and to allow the guidewire to pass therethrough. The notch can be angled to permit easier detachment between the members and for better torqueability and pushability/pullability between the control member and the medical device. The members can also include a bend region configured to enhance bendability along a portion of the members.

    • Disclosed is a system for mixing and dispensing bone cement. The system includes a flexible bag containing isolated liquid and powder components that are reactive with each other to form bone cement and a mixing device that has first and second primary pressure surfaces and first and second secondary curved pressure surfaces. The system allows the bag to attach to the first and second secondary pressure surfaces. The system is operated such that the first primary pressure surface exerts force on the bag against the first secondary pressure surface and the second primary pressure surface exerts force on the bag against the second secondary pressure surface. Relative movement of the primary pressure surfaces with respect to the bag causes mixing of the components within the bag.

    • A coupling wire guide structured to be slidably coupled to a previously introduced wire guide. The coupling wire guide includes a main body and a coupling tip, the coupling tip having first and second sections. The first section is connected to the main body, while the second section defines an axial passageway having a distal opening and a proximal opening. The axial passageway is sized to receive the previously introduced wire guide therein. Both a distal portion of the main body and the first section are constructed of nitinol, the distal portion and the first section being welded together using the native nitinol material of the distal portion and first section.

    • Medical device loading apparatuses, systems, methods and kits are described. A loading apparatus comprises a main body having a proximal end defining a proximal opening, a distal end defining a distal opening, and a passageway extending between the proximal and distal openings. The passageway defines a proximal chamber having a first inner diameter, a distal chamber having a second inner diameter, and a transition chamber disposed between the proximal and distal chambers. The transition chamber has an inner diameter that transitions from the larger second inner diameter to the smaller first inner diameter. The main body has a separable connection that divides the main body between proximal and distal portions when disrupted. An expandable intraluminal medical device can be loaded into a delivery catheter using the loading apparatus by placing the device into the passageway such that it is in a radially-expanded configuration; pulling the device along an axial path through the loading apparatus such that the device transitions from the radially-expanded configuration to a radially-compressed configuration; and pushing the radially-compressed device along the axial path into the delivery catheter.

    • The present invention provides apparatus and methods for treating vascular conditions, and in particular, hardened or fibrous material in a stenosis. In a first embodiment, the apparatus comprises a catheter having proximal and distal regions and a plurality of balloons segments disposed on the distal region at intervals about a circumference of the catheter. A first set of opposing balloon segments are configured to be inflated at substantially the same time to apply a first pressure on the vascular condition, and then a second set of opposing balloon segments are configured to be inflated at substantially the same time to apply a second pressure on the vascular condition. The plurality of balloon segments may be formed by taking one length of balloon material and affixing the material to an outer surface of the catheter at a plurality of segment dividing locations to separate adjacent balloon segments, or alternatively, by providing multiple separate balloon materials.
