摘要： A display may include switching circuitry in pixel regions to implement impulse driving. A first pixel region may include switching circuitry to provide a data voltage to the first pixel region during a first portion of a frame, and to provide an impulse voltage to the first pixel region during a second portion of the frame. In some embodiments, a display panel may include a liquid crystal capacitor, a switching element, a storage capacitor, an impulse gate line and an impulse driving element. The liquid crystal capacitor may be in a region defined by adjacent gate and data lines. The switching element transmits a data voltage to the liquid crystal capacitor based on a gate voltage. The data voltage is from the data line, and the gate voltage is from the gate line. The storage capacitor is electrically connected to the liquid crystal capacitor. The impulse gate line transmits an impulse gate signal. The impulse driving element transmits a common voltage to the liquid crystal capacitor based on the impulse gate signal. The common voltage is applied to the storage capacitor. The driving margin may be increased, and a display quality of a moving image improved.

摘要： The present invention relates to a liquid crystal display of a time divisional color display, which includes a plurality of pixels having liquid crystal capacitors, respectively, and light is not supplied to some pixels and light supplied to other pixels. Preferably, data voltages are applied to the pixels to which light is not supplied and data voltages are not applied to the pixel to which light is supplied. Accordingly, since a liquid crystal panel assembly is divided into several areas to be scanned sequentially and a light source of a light source unit corresponding to the area being scanned is maintained in light-off state, it is possible to secure enough data scan time as well as to increase light-on-time of the light sources. With this, time to charge electric charges of the liquid crystal capacitors is increased to improve image quality, and, according as light-on time of the light sources is increased, clearness of the image quality is also increased.

Each pixel is supplied with the normal data voltages at least twice and with the impulsive data voltage at least once, and the application of the normal voltages are continuously performed without interrupt.

摘要： A method of controlling the backlight assembly of a display apparatus according to the ambient light level is presented. When there is sufficient ambient light to achieve a desired level of brightness in a display apparatus, the backlight assembly is turned off to conserve power. On the other hand, when the amount of ambient light is insufficient for achieving the desired brightness level, the backlight assembly is turned on to supplement the ambient light so that the display apparatus will provide the desired brightness level regardless of the amount of ambient light. In some embodiments, the intensity of the light emitted by the backlight assembly is adjusted according to the ambient light level. Optionally, the display apparatus is switched between transmissive mode and reflective mode depending on the ambient light level. The voltage applied to the display panel is adjusted depending on the operational mode.
