    • In the display device, a light source unit, a louver, a transparent/scattering state switching element, and a transmissive liquid crystal panel are provided in sequence, an optical waveguide and a cone sheet are provided to the light source unit, and a light source is disposed on the side of the optical waveguide. The light-exiting surface of the optical waveguide is made flat, and a tilted surface that is tilted to the side of the light source with respect to the light-exiting surface is formed in a light diffusing surface. A flat plate is provided to the cone sheet, and a plurality of circular cones are arranged two-dimensionally on the light-incident surface of the flat plate. The central axes of the circular cones are parallel to each other. The transparent/scattering state switching element is capable of switching between a state for transmitting incident light and a state for scattering the light. By this configuration, a light source device is obtained having high directivity, high luminance, and no limitations on the mounting position of the light source.

    • An image processing apparatus, a display apparatus and an image displaying system wherein both secure and public images can be efficiently displayed with high quality without lowering the contrast of the public images. There are included a memory (101) that stores the image data of input secure and reversed images; a data assigning circuit (102) that assigns a pulse train, which has the same pulse width for the secure images and reversed images stored in the memory (101), as an image signal consisting of a pulse train to be used for displaying images on a display apparatus of PWM drive mode in which one frame is divided into a plurality of subfields to express brightness gray scales; and a shutter spectacle control signal generating circuit (103) that outputs a shutter control signal only during outputting of image signals in accordance with the secure images. The secure and reversed images have such a relationship that they become image data of images having no correlation with the secure images when the brightness values of their respective image data are added together for each pixel.

    • The light source device of a display device according to the present invention has an optical waveguide, a cone sheet, and a light source disposed along the side surface of the optical waveguide. The light-emitting surface of the optical waveguide is flat, and a tilted surface that is tilted towards the light source with respect to the light-emitting surface is formed on the light-diffusing surface. The cone sheet has a flat plate and a plurality of circular cones arranged two-dimensionally on the light-incident surface of the flat plate. The central axes of the circular cones are parallel to each other. The invention provides a light source device that can be made thin and is capable of increasing the directivity of emitted light in two dimensions.

    • A light source device which is uniform in the intensity of distribution of an emitted light and high in the optical utilization efficiency, a display device which is high in recognability and is energy-saving, and an information terminal are provided. A reflecting portion is formed on a surface opposed to an emitting surface of a linear light guide. The reflecting portion is periodically formed with a total reflecting surface guiding a light incident on a linear light guide from a point light source, a light extracting surface allowing the light to reflect in such a way as to emit the light guiding the linear light guide from the emitting surface, and a re-incidence plane which takes the light transmitted but not reflected on the light extracting surface into the linear light guide again. By changing the size of the light extracting surface and the re-incidence plane, the intensity of distribution of the emitting light from the linear light guide can be made uniform.
