摘要： PURPOSE:Layer-built type fuel cell, in which the necessity for inserting an insulator is eliminated to effectively prevent permeation of gas by applying a seal of proper thickness around a fuel electrode and oxidizing agent electrode. CONSTITUTION:A seal 4 consisting of an end part seal 3b at the side of a base material 1 and a seal 3a at the side of a catalytic layer 2 is formed to an electrode end part of the porous base material 1 forming the layer 2. An electrode matrix 6 is filled in a combined space between a fuel electrode 4 and oxidizing agent electrode 5 forming said seal 3 to form the single cell of a layer-built type fuel cell. A thickness of this seal 3 in a side of the matrix 6 is formed larger than in a side of the layer 2. In this constitution, the necessity for especially interposing a seal corresponding to seals 4a, 5a is eliminated for filling the matrix 6, and permeation of gas can be fully prevented.

For example, a polytetrafluoroethylene dispersion is passed through a cylinder with an outer diameter of 5mm.phi, an inner diameter of 4mm.phi and a length of 100mm. obtained by processing an activated carbon powder to coat the inner surface thereof and the coated cylinder is dried at 100 deg.C to prepare a catalyst.

摘要： PURPOSE:To provide a fuel cell having a matrix which has large holding capability of phosphoric acid electrolyte by constructing with phosphate the matrix holding phosphoric acid as an electrolyte. CONSTITUTION:A phosphoric acid electrolyte matrix 1 is applied on one gas diffusion electrode 3 so as to become 0.3mm. thick, and other gas diffusion electrode 2 is stacked thereon and bonded in one body to form a fuel cell. As a phosphate compound used as an electrolyte holding matrix, for example, either of zirconium phosphate, titanium phosphate, stannum phosphate, aluminam phosphate, or silicon phosphate is used. These phosphate compounds are stable in phosphoric acid at about 200 deg.C and has high insulating property and good affinity with phosphoric acid. Therefore, phosphoric acid holding capability of the matrix prepared with these material is 2-3 times that of a conventional matrix.

摘要： PURPOSE:To readily supply an electrolyte to a matrix from the outside of a battery and provide a cell having stable performance and long life by passing through a path connecting a separator, a fuel electrode, a matrix, and an oxidizing agent electrode with an electrolyte reservoir installed in the edge of the separator by an electrolyte supply groove installed in the separator. CONSTITUTION:When an electrolyte is supplied, an electrolyte is filled in an electrolyte path 9 and overflowed in an electrolyte reservoir 8 of each cell. The electrolyte overflowed in the electrolyte reservoir 8 enters an electrolyte supply groove 6 and is supplied to a matrix 1 through an electrolyte connecting path 10. To prevent wetting of a fuel electrode base material 2a by the electrolyte, the fuel electrode base material 2a is coated with polytetrafluoroethylene to make it water repellent. When the electrolyte is supplied to the fuel electrode base material 2a by electrolyte supply pressure, the number of the stacked cells which are an electrolyte supply unit are decreased to reduce electrolyte supply pressure. After the electrolyte is filled in electrolyte supply groove 6, the electrolyte is removed from the electrolyte path 9 to prevent liquid short circuit by the electrolyte.

The electric resistance is measured to investigate the electric conductivity of CFx. The results are shown in the figure. When the value of X is increased to one, CFx becomes an insulator, but when the value of X is less than one, it has electric conductivity. 摘要： PURPOSE:To ensure a conversion of NO 3 collected through the selective adsorption into an activated material with a contact reduction, by changing the adsorbent of the nitric acid ion in the solution into a specified inorganic compound carrier which carries the specified metal. CONSTITUTION:One or more kinds of the metal ions of the palladium, platinum, copper and iron are carried on the porous inorganic compound carrier composed of the alumina or titania. And then the metal is deposited onto the carrier through the heat reduction to obtain the absorbent. About >=0.5wt% of the whole absorbent is sufficient for the metal quantity to be carried. A proper amount of this absorbent is added into the solution and then standing it for about 1 or 2 hours at a room temperature -50 deg.C to carry out the adsorption. Then the hydrogen gas is allowed to pass into the solution of about 1l/min to carry out the reduction. As a result, the adsorbed NO 3 can be converted into more activated material such as NH 4 or the like.
