    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to form a head having a high ability of high-speed magnetic recording by laminating a thermal shrinkage layer consisting of a thermal shrinkable material later in lamination order than a conductor layer and heating a laminate laminated with plural layers including this thermal shrinkage layer and a magnetic pole layer to shrink the thermal shrinkage layer. SOLUTION: A layer of copper constituting a coil is laminated on an insulating layer formed by applying a photoresist to a coil forming region and curing this photoresist by heating. The photoresist is again applied to this conductor layer and is cured by heating to form the insulating layer 70, on which an upper magnetic pole 41 is formed. As a result, an inductive head 10 corresponding to the laminate is formed. This inductive head 10 is heated together with a substrate 20 to shrink the insulating layer 70, by which the magnetic domain structure of the upper magnetic pole 41 is improved. The shrinkage of the resist occurs even in the once cured resist insulating layer 70 when a heat treatment is applied again thereto and a compressive stress is generated in the upper magnetic pole 41 by this shrinkage.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic recording/reproduction head which eliminates unstable reproducing operation by making a magnetoresistance effect element shorter than the depth of a gap in an in-gap type magnetic recording/ reproduction head having the magnetoresistance effect element. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic recording/reproduction head has a first magnetic pole 2 comprising the substrate made of a magnetic material, a thin film laminate coil 6 formed on the first magnetic pulse 2 together with a non-magnetic insulation film 4 and a second magnetic pole 8 connected magnetically to the first magnetic pole 2. The tip part of the magnetic pole 8 forms gaps 10 parallel in proximity to the first magnetic pole 2. A magnetoresistance effect element 12 is arranged between the gaps 10. The length in the depth of the gaps 10 of the magnetoresistance effect element 12 is made shorter than the depth thereof 10. Thus, in the recording operation, there is no slant component generated in a magnetic field to be applied to the magnetoresistance effect element 12 and a magnetic wall is hard to occur in the magnetoresistance effect element 12 thereby making possible the prevention of the reproducing operation from becoming unstable.

    • PURPOSE:To provide a magneto-resistance effect head stabilized in response function with the signal magnetic fields from a recording medium at the time of reproduction by preventing the fluctuation in the magnetic domains of a flux guide. CONSTITUTION:This magneto-resistance effect head includes a magneto- resistance effect element 22 which converts a change in the signal magnetic field leaking from the recording tracks of the recording medium 34 into a resistance change and is disposed to recess from the front end face 26 of a head facing the recording medium 34. The magneto-resistance effect element 22 is connected to a pair of terminals 28a, 28b and a sense region 22a is delineated between both terminals 28a and 28b. One end of the magneto-resistance effect element 22 is magnetically coupled to the other end of the flux guide 24 exposed to the front end face 26 of the head. The flux guide 24 has an approximately rectangular shape extending in the transverse direction of the recording track of the recording medium 34 beyond the sense region 22a of the magneto- resistance effect element 22.
