摘要： The method of the present invention is adapted to manipulate the chemical properties of water in order to improve the effectiveness of a desired chemical process. The method involves heating the water in the vessel to subcritical temperatures between 100.degree. to 374.degree. C. while maintaining sufficient pressure to the water to maintain the water in the liquid state. Various physiochemical properties of the water can be manipulated including polarity, solute solubility, surface tension, viscosity, and the disassociation constant. The method of the present invention has various uses including extracting organics from solids and semisolids such as soil, selectively extracting desired organics from nonaqueous liquids, selectively separating organics using sorbent phases, enhancing reactions by controlling the disassociation constant of water, cleaning waste water, and removing organics from water using activated carbon or other suitable sorbents.

摘要： A portable low-profile tipper for dumping the contents from a trailer containing a dumpable material, includes a towable elongated and angled frame having a portion resting on the ground during dumping for greater stability. A deck is pivotally attached at an elevated position to the frame back end. The deck has a backstop for positioning the trailer during dumping. Actuators raise and lower the deck to dump the trailer contents. The tipper has a chute with fixed and pivoting components cooperating to guide the dumpable material from the trailer past the frame back end. Front and back stabilizers extend outwardly from the frame. The front stabilizers lift and lower the frame front end between a low-profile dumping position and a raised towing position. A method of successively removing the contents from a plurality of trailers using the tipper is also provided.

摘要： An injector for use with a capillary supercritical fluid chromatography (SFC) apparatus includes an operable four-port switching valve having a body portion and a rotor rotatably mounted within the body portion. The rotor has a hole therethrough which will selectively register with pairs of aligned ports. Thus, the rotor is rotatable between a loading position, wherein a first and third port are in communication, and a chromatographic position, wherein a second and fourth port are in communication. A first tubular member extends from the third port and is connected to a retention gap, which is in turn connected to an end of a capillary SFC column. A bypass tube connects the fourth port to the first tubular member. The loading position of the rotor and the first tubular member form a straight pathway to permit a needle to be inserted therethrough into the retention gap to inject a sample. A method is also disclosed whereby said injector permits the venting of a sample solvent from the injector by cycling the rotor, between the chromatographic and loading positions for predetermined time intervals.

摘要： Antibodies, particularly human antibodies, are disclosed having activity in treatment of demyelinating diseases and diseases of the central nervous system. Methods are described for treating demyelinating diseases, and diseases of the central nervous system, using polyclonal IgM antibodies and human monoclonal antibodies sHIgm22(LYM 22), sHIgm46(LYM46) ebvHIgM MSI19D10, CB2bG8, AKJR4, CB2iE12, CB2iE7, MSI19E5 and MSI10E10, and active fragments thereof. The invention extends to the use of antibodies and fragments in diagnostic and therapeutic applications, including screening assays.
